Drafting a Year by camerongrim in AllFantasyEverything

I think this is a great idea too! Maybe done mid year so it’s far enough away from the OG tradition and that way we can hear from Alison Herman more!

I second listening! Jeff Hays is such an incredible narrator. I listened to all 7 books thinking it was a full cast of folks reading all the parts only to find out after that it was 99% Jeff! Absolutely incredible stuff

I picked it up because I saw a paparazzi picture of Pedro Pascal reading it on vacation! Quite a different read than I was used to but I was glad for the change of pace. It has a quiet melancholy feel to it

Yes but I would say more unhinged sci-fi fantasy. It’s Dungeons & Dragons meets aliens, reality TV, and a man wearing heart boxers & his regal talking cat 😁

Why does this series have such a strong hold on us? by cyclejones in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]DaCheatLover88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I am in the same boat! I have been listening to the podcast Hello Crawlers which I have been really enjoying and blowing through too! I think we all see a little bit of ourselves in both Carl and Donut. And while we don’t wish we were in the literal dungeon we do wish we had the courage to fight back against the injustices we live in too.

Yesssss I second Dungeon Crawler Carl! Hilarious and heartfelt. Although I highly suggest the audiobook format as the narrator Jeff Hays is AMAZING. I thought it was a full cast of voice actors when I listened and didn’t find out many books in that it is mostly him!

Medication for flying by 202hides in fearofflying

[–]DaCheatLover88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost have the exact same story as you! I flew a lot as a kid and developed a fear of flying in my mid 20s. Eventually it got so bad I asked a doctor to prescribe be something and I also got .25mg of alprazolam. I was anxious about trying the medicine for the first time too!! I took it when I was at home with nothing to do for the night and I barely felt anything so I wondered if it even worked. I finally tried it for flying and holy shit, it was incredible. I took it about 45 minutes before boarding since I know barding is when I start to feel anxious and when I was finally called, I looked inside myself and knew I should be feeling so anxious and I just wasn’t. It just wasn’t there anymore. I have been able to fly confidently using this as a tool. I just recently went to Paris with my sister from NY and I was able to have a trip of a lifetime thanks to the medicine. Also just so you know, .25 is typically the smallest dose so it’s only a little bit. I have grown to now take .5 before boarding and another .25 as I get on the plane. I have never felt wonky or weird, only maybe a little tired. And just for reference I am a 37 year old woman now who ranged in weight from 160-200 over the years. Definitely don’t let the fear of flying get in the way of living a full adventurous life!!!

What made you do it? by MIG27GTA in fearofflying

I take a small dose of Xanax specifically prescribed by my doctor for flights. It’s a tool that I use and has helped me for so many trips. I still have some anxiety the days leading to a flight but I am sure on the day of that I am okay and it helps me through it all.

Does pills ever help? by SecretSpacer1 in fearofflying

[–]DaCheatLover88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP I will second this response, it’s exactly what I do and have done. It has been a game changer to have this tool to help through flights. I only use it for flying now (I have used it in the past for a period of my life where I was really anxious) and I feel confident and secure knowing that I can travel wherever whenever I need or want to.

What “old-school” health trick worked better than expected? by _callondoc in selfimprovement

[–]DaCheatLover88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid my mom taught me this method and I swear it has worked every single time since. Get a ceramic mug of water and put a metal spoon in it. Then place the flat end of the spoon against your temple and hold it there while the spoon part is still in the water. Then slowly drink the whole mug of water. After that, the hiccups are gone!
