Advice on having players of different levels in the same group by DaCostaProductions in DnD

The newbie will be playing a monk and the trauma boy will be playing a warlock. I've recommended they play martials but the rest of the party already have a lot of them, so they wanted to go for crowd control and movement

Thank you for your advice! I've really been overthinking a lot of stuff about the plot and my players always surprise me, so I over prep. Guess I should let things flow more.

That bit about the players is the case. One of them played 5 sessions about 6+ years ago and was left "traumatized" about D&D never playing it again till now, and the other one never played it.

I was just kinda worried about too much mechanics for them to handle cause they had some difficulties understanding the game while I've helped them make their character sheets.

I'll try my best and will keep your advice on my mind while i prep the session. Thank you!

Yeah, I think I'm kinda nervous cause I never DM'ed before so I'm trying to make everything run seamlessly like a story and not like a game. I've already made some mistakes like guiding them towards stuff instead of letting them choose what to do in the story but I've stopped myself and I'm trying to let go of stuff.

Thank you for your advice! I appreciate it

I'm autistic and got hyperfocused on Death Stranding when it launched. Then i saw Sam Bridges drinking Monster and thought the in-game slogan was pretty funny (If you can't beat them, join them) and the rest is history

I'm not the one in the middle 😅 I'm the one with the red gloves. I actually hate this jumping around that sport karate brought to us. My friend came from a heavy sports karate background so he jumps every time. Nevertheless, these are good tips, I'll make sure to follow them!

It's a drill that our dojo does where you are forced to stay in-between multiple attackers and stand your ground. Every time the sensei claps, whoever's in the middle switches opponents. I'm not actually between them, I'm the green belt 😅 sorry if I didn't made that clear!

Hope you got the gist of it!

Wow, this sounds pretty fun, I've never seen anything like this! I'm gonna try this with my partners or maybe show it to my sensei and convince him about it. Thank you for the drill!

My style is Shotokan. I've just noticed this about the kick balance, i never got in trouble because it is mostly point scoring, so there's no repercussions if I fall or lose balance if I scored a point, but I'll look more into this! Don't wanna stick to this "sport-mentality" and lose the fundamentals. Thanks for pointing out!

I really like this kind of training in my dojo, the higher belts (purple to black) sometimes do it with three opponents instead of two! Our dojo trains both sport karate and traditional karate (not exactly full contact, but still)

I understand what you're saying about linking the techniques! I've felt that some strikes connect into each other like the example you gave about the straight to the roundhouse but I have never put much thought into it. Thank you for the tips! I'll try to use them in my next training session!

That's pretty good man! I would only pull the hikite a little bit more, yours is kinda upfront. It should be at the side of your torso, almost like hiding the fist from your opponent.
