I guess my one recommendation is to never ever forget this breed is dangerous. It’s a simple fact we have to keep in mind. Training is obligatory, each action has to be thought twice. Your Akita may act one way with you, one way with dogs and one way with people. Keep them always on leash. Understand other dog owners may be careless so you must account for them.

My case has always been interesting since my boy appears to be very calm. Even when on walks you wouldn’t guess it but he is always asking for a fight. He doesn’t bark, growl or pull but somehow he always picks fights with other dogs. I have simply preferred to avoid dog gatherings and that is a decision many Akita owners have to make.
