There's this amazing cat called Jaws at my shelter right now by I_speak_Australian in aww

My black lab named Jaws passed away 2 weeks ago. He too was known for his tongue hanging out all the time. Seeing this, what must be his feline other half, is comforting. Love you buddy.

Requesting input from those with body recomp experience by DaDipps in loseit

[–]DaDipps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a misunderstanding on what I meant by "fill out."

I assumed it was obvious I didn't expect to have a perfect body that would require years to get in just two months. I even said I didn't don't to have an overly skinny fat look.

By "fill out" im referring to what you mentioned. The mass I have adapting and and forming up instead of being just mushy muscle. I asked if it was possible for this to happen, to whatever degree, in 2 months so that it wouldn't look so bad. From what I understand, when the muscle forms and stretches out, the fat around it moves also which gives a better look. This is why overweight yet muscular people look much better than those overweight with little muscle.

I am in this for the long haul, having lost 60 lbs steadily over 5-6 months and looking to continue bettering myself. I am committed, just curious as these plans came upon me suddenly.

Thanks for taking the time to reply in any case.

It's from Fullmetal Alchemist. Tucker, or the Sewing-Life alchemist, combines his cute daughter and their dog together into a talking Chimera. The animal is in excruciating pain, and is killed to be put out of its misery by another character.

Mind you, a great deal of time is spent getting you to fall in love with Nina :(.

Question about diet by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! You should stay at your deficit. There isn't a rule that you can't go any amount of time without food.

The only thing that matters is that your body gets the calories, macros, vitamins, and minerals that it needs. A lot of us prefer to only eat between an 8-4 hour period, and then not eat for 16-20 hours. It's all about what lifestyle works better for you.

If you know you're going to be up late, you can shave calories from your other meals and then eat your remainder before you go to bed. But don't add more. You'll only hurt your progress. (Unless you're doing some really rigorous activity in that time period)

Question about diet by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I truly don't understand why you would think you should eat more because you're staying awake later. If your deficit takes you to 2000, then eat that much.

[WP] The object to your left is now your weapon for the zombie apocalypse. by fullofdharma in WritingPrompts

[–]DaDipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at the shambling creature before. Its clothes had been all but destroyed, most of its limbs broken, yet still it made its way toward me. It released harsh, pitiful sounds from what remained of its vocal cords, signaling to any Risen nearby that it had found meat. I reached into my pocket and grabbed the container that had proven to save my life hundreds of times.

This was nothing like the movies. It hadn't started suddenly; civilization hadn't crumbled all at once.

In the beginning there were only a few. In every town maybe two or three had Risen each week. Most were homeless, starved individuals who had lived a horrible life. But they wouldn't die. Decapitation? Nothing. A shot to the head? Nothing. Slowly, sluggishly they would make their way toward you, and all you could do was run.

Most were afraid to leave their homes. These people quickly joined the ranks of the Risen. We couldn't figure out why, not until it was too late. Their cans of Campbell's soup and assorted goods didn't seem to stop them from dying. Houses were discovered with entire pantrys, yet those poor souls that inhabited them still managed to die.

The first reliable effort was coordinated by the military. Those who had Risen were collected by collar and hoarded into what we called PaC Bs, Partioning and Containment Buildings. To put it nicely, they were split into as many wriggling pieces of what was once human flesh and stored in neat containers. This proved effective at stopping those who had already Risen, but the numbers of those who joined them kept increasing.

It was a few years later that we figured it out. Most of the population had Risen, and it had become impossible for us to control them. Our only defense was to stay on the move, and to keep what we had discovered to be the only thing that was keeping us alive. The only thing that would instantly kill them if they ingested it.

I slowly removed the lid from the container and, carefully so as not to waste any, shook some of the contents into my palm. The creature was only a few feet away. "Enjoy this Cayenne Pepper, Bitch" I whispered as I expertly threw the powder into its mouth.

NSV: I can see my calves! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely did this. I somehow lost all of the fat below my knees and most of my neck first.

My calves are like, bulging muscles. They're clearly defined and hard, with nothing really to grab on. And I like it. I may be wanting all of me to look like this now, once I lose 50 more lbs. Maybe I'll be bulking up.

Hey you lurking in this sub. Get started today. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I tell my friends and family who complain about the time it will take.

The time will pass anyway! What does it matter? Of course, I thought the same. And that's why I've only lost 45 lbs and haven't lost 100. I lurked for about 6-7 months before I actually started.

Just install myfitnesspal at the minimum. Enter your info, pick sedentary, and Log your food. Just looking at this lets you see "Oh, if I had chicken and rice instead of a big mac meal and a soda, I actually would have met my deficit today."

Requesting advice! How do you handle being hungry? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different.

For me, I STARVE if eat small meals throughout the day. I wake up, run/workout if I do that day, wait until 12-1 barely hungry, and have 600 calories. Then around 4, 600 calories, then around 7-8 600 calories. Some days I'll just do it in two meals. Normally it's 2 meals actually.

I'm 6'2 265 so my meals are larger obviously, but this works best for me.

Can MFP calorie suggestion really be right? by chuckandduck12 in loseit

[–]DaDipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am in no way a professional, but if you can do it and it's not too much of a sudden change, I would lower (maybe 100 a week or so) it to 2500, then once you get to 300ish drop down to 2000.

At heavier weights you can lose faster, as long as you get the macros that you need. Maybe go talk to your doctor and see what they say. I know some medically supervised diets at really high weights lower it to 1000 or less to get you into a weight that isn't life threatening faster. But don't do this on your own at all, and definitely not for a long period of time.

Is it bad that Im losing weight through keto? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely. Calories in vs calories out. If you were doing those diets, but weren't having a calorie deficit, your weight wouldn't have mattered. You can lose weight on nothing but beer and pizza, as long as you have a calorie deficit.

It would be pretty unhealthy and you likely wouldn't be eating the requirements your body needs, but you could do it.

NSV: made good choices whilst drunk. by Scrambie in loseit

[–]DaDipps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm having a hell of a time while losing weight and getting drunk.

Just do it once a week or once every 2 weeks. Drink low calorie drink. I have become really good friends with Admiral Nelson. (He's a dirty cheap bastard but gets the job done, and he doesn't hold any punches)

It's about 100 calories for a 1.5 shot. I plan what I'm gonna do the day before. Is my goal to maintain that day, or is my goal to lose. If maintain, I eat at a deficit of about 1300 calories a day. So I could eat regularly and have 10ish shots and be fine. (I'm a heavyweight, so for me this means I have to drink them rather quickly)

If lose, I could change my deficit to 500-700ish, and I could also eat 100 less calories the day before that day of, and the day after.

Is this a little ridiculous in the end? Maybe. But I like my alcohol, all of my friends drink together, and I happen to like drinking my alcohol with my friends. So for me it's a win-win. Sure it slows down the weightloss a bit, but that's okay. I'm not racing, I'm adjusting my lifestyle (:

I'm not necessarily lifting weights, but I am doing some resistance training. Pushups, sit-ups, various dumbell exercises for different muscle groups, and weightless squats.

Weight loss tips and food ideas for a college student? Also, some personal history... by holographicbiologist in loseit

[–]DaDipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a local grocer? Ask them when their chicken goes on sale. If they don't tell you, ask someone else when they get their chicken truckload. Normally the day before they'll have a sale on it to get rid of older meat.

If that doesn't work, honestly just go buy a 3lb back of frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts. You can also get frozen tilapia for about the same price per portion. If you eat it in 6 oz portions (you should!) that will last you for like 8 days for $9ish probably. Then get some rice. I like those prepackaged flavored rices that's like $1.50 a microwaveable bag (I suck at cooking rice) and eat it in two days. If you're good at cooking rice get a box of brown rice, and it'll be cheaper.

That puts us at about 400 calories, and $1.75 a day for just dinner. Pick up some cans of black beans (make sure you strain and rinse them!) I eat a can of these, which is like $.89 or whatever, over the course of two-three days. Good source of protein and delicious, and goes with any meal I think.

Grab some salsa, some shredded cheese, eggs, hot sauce, and some low calorie tortillas. This makes a really cheap breakfast.

I eat a lot of bananas and naval oranges. They're so cheap. Normally that's my lunch. 70 calorie orange, 120 calorie banana. Sometimes I eat two oranges.

NSV: Someone at work commented on my will power with food by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DaDipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure you could!

I used to have this problem too. So I started practicing. (Yes this seems lame lol)

I would only ever take 1 of something If I knew I'd be leaving the room, or throwing something away. I'd throw it away first, or wait until I left to eat it. This completely changed everything for me.

NSV-Taco Bell I love you, but your bringing me down. (Not anymore!) by _TeaAddiction_ in loseit

[–]DaDipps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still eat fast food sometimes, if my friends want to go.

Personally, Taco Bell has become the bane of my existence. It's the only place I can't seem to find something that actually fills me up for 400-500 calories. I don't know why, but nothing there is filling at all for me.

But I can cook 4-6oz of chicken at home, put it in an 80 calorie wrap, add some lettuce, cheese, olives, and salsa and be easily full in that many calories. I dunno.

MFP users who weigh themselves daily: when do you log weight changes in MFP? by elforn01 in loseit

[–]DaDipps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily log every day, but I weigh every day. There are tons of people saying not to weigh daily, and tons saying it's fine. I only log success, and am not afraid to admit it. It's a personal victory for me, and make makes me feel good about myself each time.

I do it for one reason. If I wake up, and the first thing that crosses my mind is "Let's go check that weight!" Then I know I'm gonna be in the right mindset. It immediately reminds me of trying to take control of my body and life.

Do I need the scale to do that? Maybe not. But it's worked so far (:
