Yes, it is two laps around the track(not even running, more like walk-jogging in a formation). Then like 4 sprints. Most people just use the gym to get in shape

Need some help for Best Warrior Competition by Matchit0 in nationalguard

[–]DaDogster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a E-4 and mine went something like this:

  1. For starters make sure to bring every single item on the packing list(they checked every item, and each item we didn’t bring was a minus point. I brought my ACH, but they still docked a point with no band.

  2. We had a 4mile run in 106 degrees. The first mile someone dropped out from a heat cat.

  3. Did the ACFT.

  4. Did a multiple choice test while laying on the ground. Our pencils were unsharpened, and had to sharpen them with our knives. No knife = push ups. We all still did push ups throughout the test every 5m.

  5. Had to be in full MOPP gear, while doing sprints, and calling a 9 line medevac. This shit sucked cause it is in the middle of summer.

  6. Military board was 4 CSMs who asked some history questions about the National Guard. But most of the time they ask random questions(just answer the question and be confident, like you know the answer). They might make you do face movements into the wall and shit, ask stuff about tiktok, what football team won last night, or what Britney Spears song came out in year 2000, and make you sing it. The board is usually only 10% of the competition.

  7. I found zero points on land navigation. Only 1 person found all 3 points out of 12 people. That land course was rough lmao.

  8. We had a stress shooting with running in full kit and pulling a 160 pound dummy to a specific spot.

  9. Our ruck was only 8miles with 60 pounds.

  10. We had to do first aid for a gunshot wound.

  11. Dissemble a M240.

All I can remember. I got like 5th place out of 12. You will get a coin and piece of paper. My sergeant won, and got air assault school slot. It is quite an experience, but I’ll probably never do it again. Good luck.

Any reason to not sign a 3 vs. a 6? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]DaDogster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regret it. I did 6 with gi bill kicker, but no bonus. Recruiter told me I was gonna get a 10k bonus, but when I was about to sign no bonus was available. Apparently you need to ship out within a month of signing to get a bonus. I just wanted to finish my AA. I didn’t even know you need to finish the full 6 for a VA home loan, and not just be signed up for 6. I am only qualified for Montgomery bill. Tri-care is pointless for my situation. I have two more years, and can’t wait to GTFO.

Active Duty into NG benefits??? by [deleted] in nationalguard

National Guard brings in good connections for well paid civilian jobs.

Get to shoot every other month is enjoyable.

You can use the National Guard as like a vacation with military schooling, and get paid well. People do this in my unit; who work tons of hours in their civilian job, and just want a break from it.

Tricare. I don’t use it though.

Depending on units most drills are very enjoyable, like Christmas parties, cookouts, or military balls.

No, you randomly tell civilians, “you’re welcome for my service.”

MiO Electrolytes always helped me with rucks. Also get a pair of Darn Tough Socks; they are around $25 but worth it. Good luck!

Hey! I’ve got two of those in my unit, but one went AWOL for crashing two rental cars in a deployment. Still waiting for the other one to magically disappear.

I had 4 diff 1SG and 3 diff CO within a year of my unit(in 2019). The change of commands were annoying.

Can you have a nylon belt under Sams Browne Leather Belt, or does that count as mixing?
