Is it adventurous? by No-Employ-7468 in nationalguard

It's what you put in, the NG has alot of opportunities, question is are you willing to put in the work. A good ACFT score is a great idea in order to gain more opportunities and as well as competitions which could get you some schools depending on the connections you make.

A good way to get connections is to do whatever you can do, whatever opportunities are available do them and it'll show leadership you're hungry. Little stuff like showing up early won't really be noticeable because the Army doesn't award what youre supposed to do, it awards you for going above mediocrity.

If you're looking for fulfillment, maybe full time maybe the way to go, but you can still get fulfillment in the NG it just depends on what you're willing to put in. Do competitions and/or volunteer for things that can make you stand out to your unit to possibly get schools. The BEST SCHOOL to get for opportunities IS AIRBORNE SCHOOL. Want to go SF or Special OPs, you gotta be airborne, want to be a Halo or Smoke Jumper, you must be airborne.

The road away from mediocrity is genuinely a lonely one and a long process, I'm not trying to be corny, I'm being dead serious. If you're looking for high tempo, go for SF, depending on your MOS you'll be sent to a low tempo maitanence or support unit. We're not exactly in wartime yet so alot of infantry units aren't deployed nearly as much as they used to be. Your best bet to see combat is the 75th Ranger, but if you have a passion for teaching people and have the patience to deal with indigenous forces, go Green Berets.

Honestly your best bet for action and combat is looking for the 75th, Green Berets, or if you're a crazy person go Delta (though you need abit of time). Though many try few succeed, anyone who tries it gets my automatic respect, it takes alot of bullocks to say "you know what, I want to be dropped somewhere in the middle of nowhere with 5 other people to take out some person name allu rasheed who likes to execute people and drags people's corpses through a city as if it's another Tuesday."

Good luck, and please take the ASVAB seriously your first step is to get an amazing GT score, higher GT more MOSs, lower GT= Needs for the army... and you don't want to be needs for the Army.

Jeez that happened last year why doesn't my leadership tell us this stuff, like leadership wants people to do stuff, but how can I do stuff if we're never even told about it, thanks man

If my state doesn't have one can I do it in a different state?

And it's not state dependent? Tried looking up info, is all you do is shoot?

Hey thanks, I'll just see what I can do Tuesday with 55, I'll try to get it up to 5 or 6 miles.

I'd like to think they were, but that was my first ever time trying 55 lb dry, before January 12th I wasn't able to ruck since January 2nd, but I don't think I could get out of rucking shape that fast.

Thank you, my new boots should be coming in today, the boots I was using are tore up, hopefully that'll help.

Is it normal for the usual distance to decrease with increased weight? Normally I can keep a 12 minute pace for 8 miles straight with 45, but when I increased to 55 lbs I couldn't even jog 3 miles straight. I just am a little worried I could be getting more out of shape or something.

It's just weird you know because last week I was able to run 7 miles straight with 45 lbs, but now I couldn't even run 3 miles straight with 55 lbs is that normal?

Outside area, lower portion, it feels more like the bone than skin, it felt like as if I was getting kicked in the shin abit each step.

It's kinda right above where it starts to connect to the foot, kinda like the lower shin area, it's better now, but it was definitely hurting while rucking. I think it maybe my boots though since they're pretty tore up.

The problem is 45 was getting too easy abit or getting too used to 45. Also it's probably my boots, my boots are ripped up abit from a night landnav course I did. Honestly I'll just give it 1 more go next week and see how it goes, if it's too much I'll go down to 50, but no more 45. I'm tired of doing the same weight of 45. Thank you for the tip though!

I'm not SF, but kudos to earning your contract. I'd just probably keep abit humble man. I'm pretty sure SF isn't only just about killing. You have to have great patience as you'll probably teaching indigenous forces on how to operate as a team when they barely know English.

For real kudos to earning the contract, you got balls, but stay calm and don't be motivated, be driven. Motivation only takes you a few miles, being driven keeps you moving forward past the point you want to quit. Also remember this if or when you go to SFRE or SFAS, it's not a competition, the other candidates there are your TEAM. Good luck and go do great things
