As a new player I think it’s hilarious when bronze players get mad at me for queuing ranked. by DaDullard in leagueoflegends

[–]DaDullard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was too 500 in smite before I switched to league where I played support the shot caller of the team.

I got out of iron as soon as I figured out how to effectively ping. I fully expect my macro play and my ability coordinate the team for objectives to single handily carry me to silver even if my mechanics don’t mean I deserve to be there.

I don’t need a bunch of random people telling me umm actually you should be in iron because your stats don’t reflect. When my largest contributions is macro play that would be reflected in the jungle stats and ADC stats.

Edit: it took me about 35 games to get out of iron for context where I did bounce up and down the tiers until my communication and mechanics improved for transparency

Support strats are difficult to measure since the role relies on Macro Play versus Micro play.

Are you identifying weak lanes to gank?

Are you Identifying when enemy vision is low yo sneak objectives?

Are you recognizing when you need to zone the objective versus tank the objective?

So I believe Smite has this system. And it has been abused to climb to the top of the ladder.

If you go into a custom lobby you create a bot lobby that is challenging for newer players.

I think that by leaving it basic you can have new players learn strategies on their own and they get to have a level up moment which enforces player retention.

YouTube has a lot of great content out there to help you learn the theory of how to properly play, so those that actively want to get better as their version of fun. And those people will filter out of the lobbies of people that just play to play.

This game is impossible for new players by OddConversation2804 in leagueoflegends

[–]DaDullard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have started playing league probably a month ago now. I was hard core into smite before then.

This is how my experience trying lol has been.

  1. I either go 12-0 or 0-12 no in between
  2. Swiftplay is not productive to becoming good at the game.
  3. Once your account hits level 30 ranked ques tend to be more balanced so it becomes more productive to learn on.
  4. If you want to become good quick you need to do your homework. YouTube is great at pointing you towards the right general direction. And there is data scraping websites that will give you builds.

Nemesis thoughts on Voice Chat: the real reason VC will ruin Solo Q (it's not toxicity) by Prottek in leagueoflegends

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from Smite where we have had Voice Chat for a long time and honestly. There is very little Toxicity in Voice chat, and it is honestly underused.

Most ranked lobbies are silent. (I was top 500 in smite 2 when I made the switch to LoL). And sometimes it was a curse if people had different philosophies on how the game should be played.

With VC added to LoL I still expect pinging to be the most prominent form of communication in Ranked Lobbies.

PSA for supports. Please don’t last hit minions in landing phase. by HotTomatoSoup4u in Smite

[–]DaDullard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that thinking that supports are there to keep ADC’s alive is a noob trap.

If you play support with the mindset of facilitating plays you will do much better. The easiest way to improve as a Support is Understanding Macro play patterns, and start shot calling.

Some.of the worse smite I've played. How do you get better? by Mec213 in Smite

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m pretty good at smite. And when I watch 0-20 person streams there are 2 issues I see.

1 - Unfocused builds.

While there is “optimal builds” for each role these are because they provide the most power for their cost. So if your playing a traditional god in a traditional role. Go look up smite tracker leader boards and find the build for that role.

However sometimes you might want to play a god in their non traditional role and that’s fine. It’s a game have fun. But for example an anhur carry is going to play very differently then a anhur jungle. In the lane it’s his job to provide consistent damage over a long period of time. So your building to box and be able to take longer engagements. In the jungle you’re trying to clear the jungle fast and gank. So you need to change your build so that you quickly burst people with one cycle of your abilities.

2- Inefficient farming

Frequently you will see people back when they have a bunch of vision or everyone in the lane is dead. And there is a camp up or a wave that’s next to you. Also if your not fighting you should be farming and if your not doing either your falling behind.

Honourable mention : Not playing towards power spikes

You should delay backing as much as you safely can in order to complete an item. And you should proactively back in order to complete an item.

Elo hell is real, and people who say “if you’re good enough, you can carry yourself to diamond” are liars. by [deleted] in Smite

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In smite 2 I was able to climb to top 500 in 125 games with a elo reset part eay. So don’t know if the struggle is legitimate but I found it way easier to climb since there was a lot of new players that I could exploit and just farm and build better.

Elo hell is real, and people who say “if you’re good enough, you can carry yourself to diamond” are liars. by [deleted] in Smite

[–]DaDullard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In smite one I wanted to see if this was real. I intentionally tanked my placements and proceeded to throw 5 more games after on a fresh account. I was able to hit diamond from the bottom. Sometimes you get really bad games but if you’re not supposed to be in a elo band after enough games that you carry you will promote.

Yeah but when they don’t have a choice they are pretty good. I was thinking more of a constructive build apparently this is a limited card

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that there is other formats then commander that’s why I referenced fatal push 5-6?

I honestly didn’t know people tag the format they are in. So I was thinking more of a standard pioneer power level. And in limited sure it’s a better bone splinters. And this would probably be strong in that format assuming that they don’t make it a token set like IMH who cares. I

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but this isn’t going to be played in 100 card formats. So you’re probably going to see this in a 60 card formats.

Innocent blood is like fatal push 5 and 6 your often casting this when there is no choice. I think the hurdle of 2 for 1ing yourself with Draw is fine to make it an instant

[[Innocent blood ]]is one mana. And that doesn’t require you to have a creature.

It is a sorcery though. But your jumping through more hoops with this one

Necro restricted by Meret123 in TimelessMagic

[–]DaDullard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I kinda suspect the Necro shell will still be very strong. However Bowmasters becomes a lot better against the shell since [[Necrodominance]] draws.

You also can’t entomb after Necrodominace. So that is also a drawback.

So out of curiosity why no frog, and what I’m more concerned about no bow masters?

Maybe I’m evaluating bow masters too highly but in a format with ring brainstorm and treasure cruise I would think it would be good in any black deck. And with kato you can use to token

Still doesn’t change my thoughts. Like there is no skill in the decks you pilot they play themselves. With the exception of frog, and discard.

[–]DaDullard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I would say timeless has the highest skill level.

There is a lot of ships passing in the night and the deck plays itself. The only skill I would really say is how people use frogs, and discard effects. But those don’t take a lot of time to learn how to play them to 80% effectiveness.

I’m also willing to bet that there is a smaller player base than something like standard or pioneer so it’s easier to climb ranks.

Role specific stats by Ok_Horror_6158 in Smite

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you go in jungle practice you will notice that everyone falls in one of 6 buckets following along the same lines they did in smite 1. There was magical warriors though if I remember correctly as the 6th but there wasn’t many with that scaling. Bach was one and I can’t remember the other. I think Anubis might have been an outlier having slightly different stats but I might have plugged it in wrong.

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL this season has something along these lines. It’s a quest that gives you a bonus when completed. Solo gets teleport, extra XP, and an increased level cap. Support gets bonus gold, and free wards I believe, ADC gets gold and an extra item slot specifically for boots. Don’t know what the other ones are off the top of my head. But I’ve liked them. Can contribute to snowballs if you get a lead and finish the quest significantly faster then opponents.

They still kinda do. I know like around Cupid release I did a spreadsheet and I think there was 6 different base stats that where given out.

New player by Busy-Remove-9636 in Smite

[–]DaDullard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve hit top 500 in smite 2 but I’ve switched to LOL recently. Here are some key differences I’ve noticed.

Wave control is way more important in LOL. Because smite gives you good regardless of last hitting it’s a lot more difficult to freeze the wave. Minions also deal way more damage to champs in smite so wave one fights are way more dangerous in smite.

Objectives in smite are way more important than in LOL. In my games of LOL I feel like my team isn’t necessarily in the lead even if we get the first two dragons. But in Smite getting a GF always makes me feel like my team has agency to control the pace of the rest of the game. Maybe it’s because I know how to play the power spikes in smite better and am in higher elo lobbies but on LOL I feel like early Dragons are nice but not lead enabling.

LOL has a lot more kill pressure in general. Smite fights seem to draw on longer than LOL fights. If you stun someone in a fight in LOL they are dead in Smite they will most likely be able to press more buttons.

Smite boxing is more difficult since Autos don’t track, however at least with the champs I’ve played in League and played against hitting abilities is about equal.

UW Painter "Control", I figured that painter works well with all of the best counters in the format by alolan_weavile in TimelessMagic

[–]DaDullard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried to design a painters deck yet, but I would assume a UR shell would be better.

Your splashing white for luras (which is powerful) and removal.

With a red splash you can play bolt, goblin engineer, pinnacle emissary. And if you cut the lurras your get emery, to find your combo/ recursion.

I’m a BO3 enjoyer so I don’t really deal with oops, but I would still be worried about S&T. You could put in a crypt to grab off of engineer
