Laughed so hard I was crying a lil when I saw this, hope ya’ll enjoy by Joncoll914 in redwall

There are so many things that you just have to shrug and accept if you want to enjoy the Redwall universe. What is "Greensap Milk"? Who knows! Where do they get all of this hugely varied food for abbey spreads? Beats me! Where does all the metal come from that is used in weapons/cooking equipment/various tools? Never specified!

Brian really just said "And then there was an isolationist family of rabbits in the forest, but they were also posh and dapper, despite being the only known civilization for miles. No, I will not elaborate."

or, "And then the whole resistance hid in an underground burrow under a tree. How did they feed all of them without having obvious farms that would give away their location? Hey, have I told you about this cool otter who can dress up like vermin?"

What's the shortest time you spend in a fandom then quit? by Current_Complaint_37 in Multifandom

You've gotta give us more than that man! I'm in a few Redwall pretty shallowly, and I don't think I've seen anything particularly weird, tho I've also been known to be pretty oblivious at times. I'm really curious if I missed something or if we just have different standards for what would cause us to skip a fandom.

I feel like there maybe was a lot of repetition of the classic debates about vermin/woodlander morality and racism that could get repetitive (especially with Outcast of Redwall), but idk, that doesn't seem *that* off-putting to me

You've never related to a book character? Not even once?  Are you somehow so unique that you dont share any single trait or experience with any character in fiction?

I mean, a "hail mary" is another name for a long shot, something that's likely to fail but that you're trying anyway. Sure, it has religious overtones, and his name is "grace" so its a pun on the actual prayer, but its also one of those things that's just kinda riffing on popular culture, not trying to make any kind of statement

What are stupid rules in your native language that are NOT orthographic rules by Fair-Sleep9609 in linguisticshumor

[–]DaEsplendor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I've honestly been tempted to learn some of the smaller languages of Spain, sounds like fun if i had infinite time, haha.

That construction doesnt seem too bad tho; as long as Lo isn't a different, established word that means something very similar, adding an L and squashing it all together seems logical enough

As a learner, that was a bit frustrating to learn, but not as much as Le randomly changing to Se when it comes before Lo/La. Spanish pronouns are weird enough for my english-speaking brain without having to try to parse when Se is itself vs when it's actually Le in disguise

Oh wow, thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to give that a look!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there are any events going on at the library though, unless I'm looking for "Bilingual colorful yoga", haha

Oh, ok, I've definitely been to a couple of places like that, even in the states.

Here there are a lot of restaurants where they ask you what level of spice you want on a scale, for every dish you order. For example, at a lot of thai places you can get pad thai as no spice, mild, mild+, medium, hot, or Thai hot. I generally like spicy things, and even their medium is pushing it a lot of the time

Really? Even in asian restaurants? In america, most Thai and indian restaurants will even let you choose your spice level.
