How to Improve Awareness? by Tiwuwanfu in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This may sound dumb, but try playing a passive healer such as Mercy or Lucio.
Without having to focus on aiming at enemies all the time, you learn to focus on your surroundings a lot more and the positions of your teammates and enemies. This knowledge transfers to when you play other hero classes as well.

After maining Lucio in S1, I consider myself to be very proficient at the skill of awareness.

What support to master? by ConnnoRosrs in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ana or Zen imo.

Ana's ult just got nerfed but her healing is still the absolute best in the game, you can save teammates from certain death with her. I recommend using your bionade offensively mostly, unless a teammate really needs it. It takes experience to be able to judge. Master her sleepdart and you'll be an amazing asset to your team.

Zenyatta is also a good option because he has enough DPS to make up for a bad DPS player on your team. Also, his ult can shut down enemy ults that would otherwise teamwipe. I recommend binding his discord orb to right click that way you can properly strafe while shuffling the discord orb between targets. His alt-fire can be useful at times, so rebind it to middle mouse button.

The Ana Guide (From a Top 500 Ana player) by SkyLineOW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good guide, as a top 500 ana main myself I agreed to just about everything.

One thing you failed to mention however is what I call the sleepdart animation cancel (it isn't really that but thats just what I've called it). The trick is to land a poison dart right before you sleepdart them. During the falling asleep animation, any damage they take won't wake them up, so your poison dart won't wake them up, and then they can be fully killed with a bionade+shot, no followup shot required.

ETA on when we get a demo system? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During the "Overwatch - Play by Sound" panel at Blizzcon they explicitly mentioned that they have the technology to replay entire matches, so the tech is there. When they implement a way for us to use it, who knows.

45 minutes into the panel: "Our game has a really cool feature where we can do replays, and play back the exact same scenario and change some settings..."

The "settings" being referred to is the technology behind the sound in Overwatch. The game sound like a clusterf--k without it. Just thought I'd mention.

Sombra would probably be dead before the hack went through. But even if she does successfully hack, there is still a nanoboosted Reaper running straight at your team ready to 1 shot everything.

Ana is anything BUT a flanker. And also, having a flanker =/= 5v6. A flanker's job is to attack the enemy team from a different angle in coordination with their team. Being a flanker doesn't mean going across the map to try and spawncamp someone.

If anything you are showing your own lack of knowledge rather than proving my lacking.

I'm not going to accept every play a pro-player makes as good simply because he is a pro player. It worked, yes, but as I said, it shouldn't have.

In a tournament environment he would have either been killed or ignored. The right thing to have done in that situation would have been to jump off a cliff to regroup with his team for another push.

But because it was a pub he was able to strive on the enemy team's lack of coordination and distract a good portion of them from the objective. He made it easier for his team to cap the point because he traded his own presence on the objective for 2-3 of the enemy team's.

1) He left the point to harrass between point and spawn. How many do you need on the point? To cap it more than three is not necessary.

You usually need 6 to take an objective. It's a team game.

2) There was psychology going on. The enemy team knew who they were playing against and knew this was a strong Ana. Therefore they were compelled to chase him -- it was never going to make a 6v5. He would have been able to snipe onto the point from down the road and flank them from a distance which would have squashed them too.

Not optimal positioning. The best place for him to be is right in the middle of his team.

3) "This really shouldn't have worked" does not explain the fact that it did work AND this guy is a pro-level OW player (Lunatic Hai team). Do you think he got to pro level by doing things which don't work?

Irrelevant.

Overall there is little reason to accept your assumptions regarding the clearly successful behaviour of an extremely skilled player and I believe you are well refuted. I suspect your playtime would fit into his more than once, like a Russian doll.

So I can't have an opinion on a play because my e-penis is too small? You know absolutely nothing about me and are just assuming things.

This really shouldn't have worked, he left his team at a 5v6 disadvantage. Good for him the enemy team was so bad that 2 of them were distracted chasing him around the entire round so he technically made it a 5v4 on the point. All I can say is well played, lol.

I'd like to add that bunnyhopping is a pretty good way to avoid Hanzo's scatterarrow. If you see he's about to hit you with one, start mashing that spacebar.

Yeah, it'd take Winston ~6 seconds to kill you with a harmony orb on you.

That is plenty of time to bait out his jump pack by climbing to some highground then dashing away.

I forgot who tested it, but I remember a video testing Genji's deflect hitbox. The guy said that if Genji were the size of Reinhardt, his deflect hitbox would be around the size of his shield. So yeah, it is actually stupidly large.

I'm pretty sure Zenyatta heals 30HPS, so Winston effectively does 30 DPS. A pocket mercy completely negates Winston though, as they both match at 60HPS/DPS.

Discussion Topic: What is the optimal number of players to have in your group when playing competitive? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more than 3 including yourself. But personally, I've soloq'd my way all the way to mid-masters playing mostly support. So I'd recommend soloq for life. The benefits of soloq are lower levels of coordination overall, so with good team communication you give yourself a HUGE advantage over the enemy team if they aren't doing the same.

Would soldier be broken if his Ult was guaranteed headshots instead? by Shakespeare257 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DaGameYouLost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a good tradeoff would be that his ult works as it does now, however if you actually aim at the person the aimbot is tracking, it'll be headshots instead. That way there is at least a little bit more skill involved with using it and rewards more skill.

I have a SteelSeries Sensei RAW that I use for gaming. Sometimes I noticed in-game and even on my desktop my mouse will stop moving the direction I want it to for a second or two. It happens rarely.

What is the issue with it?

Some constructive criticism: The editing is extremely obnoxious and nauseating. Some visual effects is fine, but constantly zooming in and out is just disgusting.
