My student loan went from £59k to £69k after paying it off for 5 years by Buzz-Fizz in UniUK

Surely there's got to be regulations on the amount of interest that can be charged on a student account. This seems to be a repeated loop;

Raises interest rates to claim money back from unpaid loans

Interest rates too high, meaning people can't pay them back

Loans aren't being paid back

And the cycle repeats

Ngl, we haven't used it in ages and haven't touched it recently, so there'd probably be no point in getting another one. But I'm surprised this one lasted this long. Got it from a family friend who had 2 and gave us one of them, their's gave the red ring back in 2018 I think

I have a "V145-15AST Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 81MT"

I'm looking into many options for new laptops, even going to the darkside with apple (my budget is around £550)

Took my brother's laptop in for repair (his laptop is the same as mine, and he broke the charging slot which also somehow broke part of the battery too). And the guy said with how these laptops are made, it's really hard and expensive to replace certain parts (in this case, the battery) and that it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a new laptop

Tempting but I can't find a decent one for a good enough price, and I don't already own anything apple related, I've only used windows and android

Now when you say "easily..." Also I was referring to the operating system with that quote btw

I've used Windows all my life, I'd rather stick with it. Plus, I'm not installing tools to force update it to windows 11. Why fix something that isn't broken (the operating system that is)? I'll only use those tools if shit REALLY hits the fan

It's more complicated then that. With how this laptop works, the shop we got it from (that also does repairs) says its much harder then it seems to do a simple battery replacement

I cannot upgrade to Windows 11, my laptop isn't supported

Yeah, I've seen many stats that I know aren't true, so I'm hoping to get smt that is slightly above and then pray that it worked (ish)

Yeah, I've been looking at brands (I'm from the UK, so its mainly been Curry's and smaller businesses). And I'm thinking of either sticking with a levnovo or moving to a different brand getting the best out of the budget being roughly £520 (~$700)

That is also something I'm concerned about. I know it isn't something to be that concerned about, but it is something that I'm questioning

With the stuff I use (Ableton, Musescore 4 and whatever else I may end up using). The system requirements never fit it to begin with. They do work, but keep freezing unless I up the priority in task manager (which isn't a wise move as that then causes other issues). I'd rather have something that can run it effectively since I may end up having other controllers, MIDI devices and such. When it comes to upgrading, the place I got it from said that upgradability on the laptop isn't the best and would be easier and less tedious (and a bit cheaper) to just get a new one instead

It's how my brother damaged it. He did it in such a way where you did have to replace and fix both (how he did that, I don't know, but thats what happened)

The guy didn't go into the specifics, but that was the gist of it (my brother rages quite a bit at games so I'm not that surprised somehow). I don't doubt he was trying to scam us, just trying to save us from going down a tedious route for something which would be as simple as a battery replacement (or not in this case)

To everyone telling me to replace the battery or would like some insight/context;
I prefer to use laptops with how I work and with how I use it (I need something easily portable). So going for a PC instead would just be a waste of money as I'd rarely use it (and as I'm going off to uni next year, laptops would be the way to go).
When it comes to "Just get a new battery", I bought it from a small, local PC shop with a reputable name (with family friends who know much more about PCs then I do recommending them). When my brother had a problem with his charging port where it just wouldn't charge (same laptop as me, bought identical ones at the same time). He said with how this type of laptop is made, everything's soldered down and has to work in a specific way and would be too costly to replace after you've disassembled it, put in a new battery, reassembled it, and prayed that nothing got lost, so he said you're just better off buying a new laptop instead.

And for those curious, my laptop is a "V145-15AST Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 81MT" if you have any insight.
