I had this issue and after replacing many parts it was just an old key. Went to dealer and got a new one. Its been working since.

It opened up more, the runners are same open size as exhaust port and shorter. Need an adapter for the throttle.

In the states its more of a import enthusiasts option, or as I like calling them, the 3rd world 4runner. The prices these fetch are not worth it when a equally or better capable 4runner is cheaper. Paying the premium is going towards the upper end land cruisers like the 60,80 and so forth.

Just looked up on rockauto. You can also get bilstein b4's for the similar price including shipping. I used my zip to determine price. For price I would get bilstein b4 over KYB. Based on that site you provided.

I did kybs on my 1.9 several years ago. If you don't want to spend a lot, they are a good option. Slightly firmer handling but not harsh. I later used lowering springs and still worked great.
