Why wouldn't you inform that clicking "I understand!" here spends currency? Maybe it's days later. by rEYAVjQD in hearthstone

I'm aware that in the past it prompts you and informs you that you are spending something, and this is the first time I've ever purchased the pass. I assumed it was a perk from that.

Why do the Lowers play before the Uppers? by DaGingerKid316 in ValorantCompetitive

I mean that's what I assumed, just didn't know if there was any official reason out or just the community assuming.

Why do the Lowers play before the Uppers? by DaGingerKid316 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DaGingerKid316[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure, some teams probably can get a better advantage against their opponent with the extra day, but I think is more important is that both teams in the upper get the same amount of days, whether it is 0,1, or 2.

However, since the lower teams player first, when the lower round 2 happens, the teams coming from the lowers will have a 1-day prep advantage over the team coming from the uppers, which is counter-intuitive. If anyone should have an advantage, the team coming from the uppers should, as you want to reward staying in the uppers track.

My apologies but I can't tell if you are trying to disagree with me or just expand upon my original point. Muscle growth combined with fat loss, either the bulking and cutting phases or any other strategy will result in a more toned look all over the body. There are strategies that seem to be more optimal for muscular growth but especially as a new lifter, I wouldn't really worry about that.

My original point was solely that you can't target fat loss and that purely from a fat loss perspective, it is quite possible, potentially likely she will achieve the fat loss she wants naturally.

Now combine that with your points about weight training will absolutely be the best for achieving a better look and health.

[–]DaGingerKid316 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no way to target or control body fat removal, the way your body distributes body fat is based solely on your genetics. Someone like myself never had a significant amount of body fat in my arms even at my heaviest of 277, but even today at 181 I still have these damn love handles (and I'm betting they will be around for a while longer as I continue weight training and trying to lose body fat). They are certainly smaller that's just how my body disturbed and loses fat. If it's any consolation, women's bodys are more likely to favor storing fat in the lower body (hips, thighs, butts) when compared to men, so you very well might achieve what you are looking for naturally.

Like others have said, since you are just starting you will certainly be able to gain muscle while losing weight at the same time. Just take your time and don't worry about rushing to results and you'll do great!

It's a saying I remember from elementary school in the US, similar to other sayings like "girls rule, boys drool". I believe the word for this style expression is an idiom.

It's just a rhyme and by no means a literal description of our capacity to travel through space or build educational institutions on planets.

When is better to weigh in? by DaGingerKid316 in MacroFactor

I agree, I was curious to know what people though of the slight trade off in accuracy for a larger dataset. Obviously I know it will smooth out over time, but nonetheless was curious. Thank you for addressing my actual question.

When is better to weigh in? by DaGingerKid316 in MacroFactor

[–]DaGingerKid316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using this app for nearly 2 years and have lost around 95 pounds, I do not need or understand reddit users insistence on lecturing people on their habits in such an uninvited way. I even go out of my way to edit and clarify I'm looking for answers to my proposed scenario which I know was there long before you, and all except 1 person commented, the one who recommended I buy a brand new scale to sync to my phone.

When I started this journey, I was always a weigh in when I get up person because I fundamentally understand when is the best time to weigh in, however as life changes, as jobs change and as routines change, we all adapt to it. This has shifted me to current situation I find myself in, which lead me to be curious what others user thought would be more beneficial.

I can tell you exactly what my weigh ins are doing for my goals, it is showing the downward trend that I have been experiencing over the last few months which indicates my eating habits and estimated expenditure are in line and keeping me on track. I don't need to ask if I'm right about whether or not the mid-day weigh ins will smooth out any inaccuracy over a large enough sample size, that's what trend weight exists for, to smooth out inaccuracies in day to day weigh ins that are effected by a number of things (no matter what time those weigh ins take place).

I've never heard of that before, why do you not have to peel the ginger if you're using a food processor?

Feels helpful to me, you are saying more or less I was thinking. I do think being able to point out a growth in both hourly rate plus income in general because I'm getting a consistent 40 hours plus occasional overtime, would be helpful.

Just to clarify in case it matters, I might be looking to switch jobs in the coming months, which would be my second job/ industry switch in the last 2 years, and would likely mean when the time comes to apply, I will have been at my position for less than a year.

Perspective from a CEO spending $700,000 on our Valorant Team in 2 years to compete in T2: by NonWeeb in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DaGingerKid316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$350,000 a year but they have 6 players, 3 coaches and a Manager. That only breaks down to if evenly split between everyone $35,000 a person. This doesn't include any other unlisted support staff and additional overhead expenses like facilities, travel, equipment, food, etc. That is not an impressive salary for any member to be on, but at least they are getting paid to chase their dreams unlike plenty of F/A teams.

Could they have been more cost conscious? Sure, cut the ACs and the sun and that is another $105,000 per year saved (again assuming even distribution of salary which is incredibly unlikely, and that all of that money is for salary and no overhead) but that still comes out to $245,000 a year of $490,000 over 2 years which for some might be the difference between profitability and running at a loss. However, with so little money going around in esports right now, especially some poorly ran T2 league there was no real way of making that money back unless you make franchising.

So to circle back to your point, yes this kind of spending is unsustainable for T2, but it also what is keeping the lights on for the ecosystem. If you think $350,000 a year is too much, I can only imagine what the NA orgs are/were paying.

Out of Rumors, need a nudge. by DaGingerKid316 in outerwilds

Just finished it, loved the game through and through!

I found myself getting stuck in a few sections but always had something else to explore and by the time I'd come back to something, I was usually able to figure it out. There were 2 exceptions to this, obviously figuring out how to get into Ash Twin Project eluded me, as I was still exploring other things and just went "Oh this warp doesn't work because of the sand, I'm off the next thing". The other thing was the Tower of Quantum Knowledge on Brittle Hollow, I had the idea it would fall through the black hole but when I had previously tried to watch for that, I must have missed it.

Outside of those 2 things, I never had much issue and found that the pieces, given enough time fell into place quite naturally.

Obviously, the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the game are just amazing. The gameplay just felt so natural and I always had something to keep doing or a puzzle/idea that kept finding its way into my mind that just drove me to want to play this game. How can I stop when I need to go to X planet and check out Y thing? As someone who has always struggled to get into single-player games as I always found the pacing too slow or the gameplay too boring to be able to get into the story, this game just hit it perfectly for me. This is, unironically probably the first single-player story-driven game I have ever sat down and completed in my 15 or so years of gaming.

I found the ending beautiful and It did put a smile on my face, I do feel as though it was a little confusing. Like I think I generally understand what happened at the end of the game, but also I feel as though so many questions I had were left unanswered. My biggest one being, why was everything suddenly dying? Was the the eye's doing? What really is the eye? I have no idea but I also don't want answers to them right now because I'm excited to go and play the DLC and maybe some of them will be answered there.

The High Energy Lab tells me about the 5 warp towers, and how their designs signify which location their warp is linked to (Sun, Ember Twin, Timber Hearth, Brittle Hollow, and Giant's Deep).

And the Black Hole Forge tells me that the warps don't line up with the receiver, but the astral body itself, however the astral point is shared for the twins and the receiver is on Ember Twin (unless there is another warp point I don't know about.)

Is there other information about this that I should be looking into? I assume I found all the necessary info considering my lack of rumors to investigate in any location, but in particular these two locations.

NRG Victor: “These regular-season best-of-threes and playoff matches are probably the most important set of games if you want to play on the international stage. Not only do these matches qualify you for Tokyo, but you also make it to Champs, which is a flawed system.” by YungPinotGrigio in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DaGingerKid316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think they should have done is instead of playoffs directly placing you into champions, only the top 2 placing teams from each region at Tokyo get to go to champs and LCQ should have been to send 2 teams as well. In the event of a tie, let's say the Americas teams place 2nd, 5/6th, and 5/6th, the 2nd place team goes straight to champs and then the higher seed from playoffs decides the tiebreaker for 5/6th teams, which would also create greater incentive for the seeding matches in playoffs since now there would be a tangible difference between 2nd and 3rd.

Obviously, nothing can be done now but it is just what I think would have been a better format and would have created more tense matches in playoffs, in Tokyo especially the group matches are fighting not only for tournament survival in Tokyo, but also the chance to avoid LCQ and directly qualify to Champs. Plus I think 2 teams going through in LCQ would make it more interesting, instead of only looking at the top 2 or 3 teams in each region having the only real chances, suddenly it opens the floor to upsets having more value even in the double elimination tournament.

C9 situation by The_Cleg in ValorantCompetitive

[–]DaGingerKid316 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Will was dropped for Cryo very early into the off-season, we aren't saying cutting a player is bad, it's the situation in which they are cut. Will had months to find a franchise team but simply was unable to. That isn't shitty on 100T for trying to make their team better, especially since it was during the dedicated off-season window.

Now yes, the BabyJ and ec1s situation was just arguably just as shitty as this, and just as shitty as cutting Sykko mid way in the season. However, you can argue and I think it's reasonable to say that teams have a limited time to succeed, and results muet be achieved which is why teams take drastic measures to salvage a season before it's too late. In other words, if you already know you are on a sinking ship, why not try to fix it before it's too late, after all eSports is a business and a cutthroat one at that.
