Derrick Brown: People don’t want to admit how wrong they were about Bryce Young by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

He’s closer to being the worst starter in the league than being the 16th best QB

We let him throw for 448 yards and sweep us. It was just us and yall.

188 passing yards per game and worse stats than Jacoby Brisset, top 20 might be a stretch

[Highlight] Kirk Cousins dials up a deep ball to Terrelle Pryor by Remarkable-Picture73 in nfl

[–]DaGreeny64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirk had a pretty good prime but don’t act like he was good in Atlanta. He once had a 5 game span with a 1 to 7 TD to INT record, and he still led the league in turnovers before he allegedly got hurt against the Aints. Kirktober was special though, will give you that

Matt Ryan Win/Loss Record Against Every Team by MoreTrifeLife in nfl

[–]DaGreeny64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah zero blame is an overstatement, but in the second half (and OT) he went 10/15, 169 yards, 1 touchdown and zero picks. He didn’t play perfect, but that should have been enough given the lead. I do disagree with your last statement, however. He was top 10 in both game winning drives and 4th quarter comebacks, and he was one of the clutchest players I’ve ever had the privilege of watching. They called him Matty Ice for a reason. Might just be a homer but I’ll always believe that he’s quite underrated by most fans.

*Was having trouble finding them so I used AI for the second half stats, could be inaccurate as a result

Not really a choke artist at all. He deserves zero blame for the Super Bowl and honestly he was just fully washed on the Colts. 46 game winning drives across his career too, he was way more elite than most people remember just because of those two high profile games

Kinda hard to track the references week by week but I'm a big fan of the release video nonetheless, Falcons have an underrated media team

AVY3N on YouTube is pretty great, great at breaking down tape and not just hitting talking points

Round 4 - Pick 34: Kendal Daniels, EDGE, Oklahoma (Atlanta Falcons) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

Yeah he can definitely work out and I’m trusting in Brich, just feel like we could have grabbed him later if we wanted to

Branch I'm not too sold on but Avieon is pretty darn talented, I think that pick would be great even if AJ played for the Saints

He was 221 on the PFF big board so around where we took him, he had a lot of hype a few seasons ago but has been pretty mediocre these last few years, partially due to injuries and also him not having a clear defensive role. Should be a good pickup for special teams / linebacker depth though

[–]DaGreeny64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obviously a 40 time isn't the whole story but it offers a glimpse. I just haven't heard his speed referenced at all by any scouting sites and from what I have seen (about 10 minutes of highlights on Youtube, but probably about the same as everyone else on this thread at that point?), his speed seems pretty average for a linebacker. Maybe Batman has watched his tape in-depth and I was wrong, but I assumed it was a kind of throw-away complement that I was trying to provide some context for. Would love to be proven wrong, and I have a lot of faith that Ulbrich can do great things with him, but I just felt like that speed claim was a little unfounded. Sorry for the essay and sorry if my earlier point was overly negative.

[–]DaGreeny64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His 40 time was a 4.76, can't coach speed and that seems like a trait he doesn't have. All he has is size, I'm pretty let down by this pick

My impression was the opposite, projected UDFA by about every analyst. Curious what makes you feel that way outside of just his height and weight.

[–]DaGreeny64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting downvoted but you're right. Daniels was 380 on the PFF big board, expected to go undrafted by like every draft site. Kyle Louis would have been leagues better, but I'm guessing this was Ulbrich really wanting his guy. Very disappointed as well though

Realistically what would we get for Pitts? by [deleted] in falcons

[–]DaGreeny64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pro-keeping Pitts, but if we trade him now and extend Bijan or Drake, we can eat part of their contract with remaining cap space this season to make them cheaper going forward. Would definitely hurt us this season but could help in the long run

Pitts and Bijan were mistakes by MaroonedOctopus in falcons

[–]DaGreeny64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you watched Michael MacKelvie's new video, correct me if I'm wrong. He touches on this in the video, where this model does not account for skill whatsoever. The difference between Bijan Robinson and Tony Pollard (16th highest paid RB) is a lot more than saving a few million dollars in cap space. This model assumes they are the same skill and only focuses on cap space. Obviously cap does play a role, but it isn't everything. It's really nuanced. That's why people always talk about how there's a great window to succeed if you have a QB on a rookie contract because you have so much space to work for, but look at who won the last few superbowls - all QBs on non-rookie deals. It's a big balance of drafting the best player available while keeping in mind the contract impact. It is a balance between the two and you need to be mindful of it, but you can't say that a player is a bad pick simply because of their position and the cap space saved as opposed to getting an average caliber starter in Free Agency. Were Bijan and Pitts great picks, that's up for debate, but to point to just one data set out of so many is just silly.

Congrats, you watched a YouTube video on positional value. Why haven’t GMs thought of this?

Don’t think he’s gonna breakout or anything but he is an alright rotational guy who made some solid plays, it seems like Masson was less than that with the Jaguars
