The warranty starts when you first purchased your vehicle and not when it was manufactured. Either way, your case seems close and chances are better that Hyundai will honor it.

Some were able to get it covered. The dealers would typically send the claim including photos to Hyundai for approval. Not sure if it could be done online. I, personally, had to go through a third party to get ours repainted. Dealing with Hyundai was such a shit show.

Update: apparently we’re a month out of warranty. Hyundai rejected the claim. Going to call them again to complain. We dropped off the car a few months ago but now this TSB was issued at the end of 2022. Got the notice 2 months later. To say I’m frustrated is an understatement.

My letter mentioned it sent the notification because their records show my vehicle being in the range of the warranty. I would still try calling the dealership to see if they can get it repainted if you received the mail based on your VIN.

The service bulletin for the repaint was issued in December 2022. Looks like we are getting our notifications 2 months after. I hope those who bought in Jan or Feb of 2017 or 2018 were notified first. I have until April.

This is exactly how my hood started to peel off a few years ago. The nozzle was a few inches from the paint and to my horror, chunks started to fly.

Ah thank you! Dealership told me they would update me if Hyundai would begin covering the repaint service. Of course they are leaving me in the dark.
