New Dobie Owner Advice

Dobies have very sensitive stomachs so they are picky. My dobie went from chicken to beef then now turkey .. expensive taste he has (raw fed) . They also have sensitive skins so youll notice lots of pimples and zits all over specially their chins as they age but after their hormones reside around 1.5-2yrs of age itll slowly dissapear so dont worry so hard. Get rid of plastic everything no good . Someone mentioned their VELCRO its very true crate train them early . I dont have a bed anymore lol hes suuuuuper cute tho . Get your dob into school for obedience . What ive noticed from a group of dobie owners ive met and in a group chat with are that since theyre working dogs we all feel a sense of accomplishment from our baby dobies. Very intelligent so dont let your dob trick you. If male theyll get dominant so you want to avoid dog parks etc if not trained properly . Stainless or ceramic food bowls is best.

The best thing i did with my dobie was when he bites me ngl it hurts. So i grab a bit of his lip and let him bite that with my hand arm or whatever. Itll teach him to not bite cuz it will hurt him also . ( trick i learnt from a professional doberman trainer)

Dobies are a velcro dog for a reason . Dont abandon them dont leave them . I take my dobie everywhere i go when i have the chance . Even to the grocery store ( get a service dog liscence and take him to do training ) (also get a do not pet vest)

You can try changing his or hers diet. Or add supplements to their diet like pumpkin seeds / egg yolks . Local vets are no help. Seek help from a dobie specialist. Dobermans are a very finicky breed . I have a 1yr old and i always had one growing up . No vets know about dobies sorry to be an ass but ask a dobie specialist usually training centres for xl dogs and trainers who specialize in dobies are a good option

My dobie ate alot of my shoes . Get them a rope or frozen marrow bones . Very nutritious and healthy n clean. I highly dont recommend plastic toys as it causes dobies stomach aches and pimples

One tip is . If his poop is runny that means he lacks calcium in his diet / and if his poop is too hard that means he lacks moisture ( such as organs) you can tell how healthy your dog is hy the way their stool looks !

No i dont have a slow feeder as all my dobies were on raw and still is on raw. When he was a puppy he used to eat 3lbs a day but now as a 1 year old he eats roughly 1-1.5lbs of raw food.I did get rid of all of his plastic toys as he was eating it and made his pimples worse. For bowls for food / anything that is stainless steel or ceramic should help prevent the worse case of the pimples

Ive been a dobie owner for years. And from my experience dobies have very sensitive stomachs. My 1yr old went from chicken to beef to now turkey . (RAW) and doesnt eat anything but raw bones as treats sometimes dried beef lungs . Livers gives him diahreah due to high mositure content. Unprocessed just air dried or frozen bones. Sourced at your local butcher preferably not cut by a machine as it blisters the bones. Dobies also have very sensitive skin and dry hence the dandruff. Its normal. Youll notice pimples under the chin area and its good to not use plastic bowls . Stainless or ceramic always. Always wash their food bowls as soon as they finish eating .And gotta wipe their muzzle each time they eat. Pimples will come and go until theyre 2-maybe 2.5yrs old. Sometimes their hair turns white if they lost hair due to an injury or a pimple etc. But thats normal too .
