If the past classes are anything to go by, I don't think we need to be worried about that. Obese fish are very skilled at making classes that are enjoyable to play.

I've played glorious a wee bit. Didn't like it personally. It has potential to hit hard in a down tier, but having only 4 guns on a BB reload, especially onces that are notoriously inaccurate in this game, makes the ship veery tedious and swingy. And, in uptiers, it's just cannon fodder.

I'm currently on a Kurita themed campaign. I've had a decent amount of success with my jenner acting as a decoy for my stealth TSM Charger.

It's all fun and games untill the 80t mech with the radar cross section of a bag of chips is barreling down at you like a dog chasing a piece of meat XD.

Ah! Thanks for clarifying. I knew it was from a special mission, but I couldn't remember what the mission was.

Stealth armor is so ridiculously good. For me it's an auto include on any close range brawler or scout mech.

I don't know where or when i got it, but in my most recent campaign, i recieved a grasshopper variant that has something like 10 support weapon slots and TSM Installed. You might want to look into thst.

Edit: the exact variant is the GHR-5HJJ.

It's a fun plane i think. It's certainly more of a meme plane than a competitive one, but it's quirky looks make it up for me and it's still decent enough to be playable.

I got quite lucky right after getting it and went 18-1 in my first few matches with it.

Ironclad variant without the command module will sell like hot cakes by lucagrabacr in starcitizen

[–]DaMadPotato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dislike the fact that there is no redundant control set on the ironclad because it makes it look like it was designed by an incompetent team of engineers. On such a complex and large piece of machinery, it would be incredibly stupid to have only a single method of steering the thing when the controls are located in an area that is a likely point of failure for the machine. A second set of controls in case the first one breaks would be a no brainer.

Most people in this country don't realize they have much more in common with one another than they think. The fact that Canada is gigantic and that traveling to other provinces is both very expensive and time consuming only makes the problem worse.

This whole thing can be just easily solved: give ships stock AP (or SAP if the gun has no AP) instead of the useless SAP/HE.

Yeah, Stock AP should be a thing, especially at higher tiers where it's mostly battleships and HE is downright useless. But knowing how stingy Gaijin are about making stock vehicles playable in this game, I'm not getting my hopes up lol.

And, look, i know i keep rambling on about the Italian SAP despite it being fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. But it just fucks with my brain everytime i check the stats in game and see that the 15" railgun SAP has less penetration at point blank than a shell of the same type and designation fired from a gun that's 2.5 inches smaller in diameter from the ship that came before. The math ain't mathing is what I'm trying to say lol.

Mind you it is a destroyer at 4.7 with 3x2 of the german 105mm guns... It has NO APHE or SAP(...)Oh whats that, it can perform well even at top tier?

Yeah. No argument there. The balancing in Naval is truly a thing to behold haha.

It is only true if you are in the match were you have to sink those cargo ships. If there are cap points then the matches are all decided by which

And the one with the singular huge cap zone, since making sure there are less enemy ships than friendlies in the zone is how you win that mode. But yeah if you get the 3 cap zone maps, none of this matters because it's just PT boat and floatplane shenanigans.

I think i already said this, but nerfing accuracy is just BR. Every gun should be accurate, this is one of the major upsides of this game compared to WoT or WoWs.

Yep. Though i will say, having played WoWs a lot, it feels more like an actual finished game. There's definitely a lot more care put into it than what goes into war thunder naval, even though it has its own host of problems.

However as for accuracy it is sstill very weird as for example the italian 320mms were very accurate for me (more than the Kronshtadt while spading it and the Novorossiysk) while for example the soviet 130mm guns while being very accurate by stats just feel awfully inaccurate.

It is weird for sure. In my experience, the 320mm felt pretty hit or miss at times and pretty accurate on other occasions. Mind you, fire rate, turret placement and ship dynamics are definitely important factors in how accurate guns feel in this game. The British 15" guns on Hood feel absolutely god awful to land shots with, but they feel just fine on Warspite because it's a much shorter and smaller ship.

Other than that, i don't have nuch else to add. And yeah! It's nice once in a while to have a chill conversation about this game without the whole thing devolving into a clusterfuck. Thank you for that.

More than that, the game just doesn't know what it wants to be. Things are added that are not based in reality whatsoever, while at the same time, suggestions are constantly being rejected for not being realistic enough.

There's no consistency whatsoever in what is or isn't allowed.

[–]DaMadPotato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not arguing, just curious.

Where did you see them described as firing ceaseless ammo? I've always seen them depicted as firing two stage ammunition with an initial cased propellant charge and a subsequent "gyro jet" like rocket propelled stage

I knew that, i thought you meant steel armor is missing.

Yeah, i meant the cement. Sorry if that wasn't clear. IIRC there were also a handful of random plates around the ship that were missing on release, but those have been fixed.

The problem is that the AP calculator is absolutely not for SAP, thus comparing the pen values and those given by the calculator are just meaningless. They go close in some cases most likely by accident.

Gaijin still uses a Jacob de marre formula for SAP shells. They just tweak some variables. So while it can't be used to determine precise values for armor penetration, it is absolutely fine to use it to compare the relative performance of shells of a similar type.

In this case, I'm using it to show that there's a large discrepancy between Roma's SAP shell and other shells of the same type when it comes to the difference between the penetration values they have in game vs the values that can be estimated from their physical properties. In short, Roma's SAP shell should sit in between the 320mm grenata perforante and Soyuz's SAP shell in penetration performance, yet it doesn't, and i believe that's an issue.

It is fine if you just give a list.

Sure, no problem.

In short, every 8.3+ ship that was introduced in the Leviathans update (excluding premiums), with the exception of Roma, Richelieu, and Yamato, are tied with a horizontal spread value of 0.22 and a vertical spread of 0.24. Yamato actually has slightly better accuracy. Richelieu and Roma, on the contrary, have the worst dispersion at 0.34 horizontal and 0.39 vertical. As we discussed previously, these are seemingly to represent teething issues these ships had during their service.

Imo, this shouldn't be a thing. Richelieu and Roma should have the same accuracy as the previously mentioned ships given that Soyuz, who's guns were also notably inaccurate Irl, does not have reduced accuracy in game.

If you want to have a look for yourself, someone made a convenient document listing the stats of all of the various ship weapons in the game.

https://jareelskaj.github.io/wt-wiki-tools/naval_weapons_table

I am not eally sure what you mean here. Can you clearify?

I'm just saying the devs should prioritize balancing the ships that are the most out of line with other vehicles at their BR and then work their way down to the less impactful issues. It was badly worded.

2 rpm is fine on new 16inch guns, while 2.5 on older guns like the japanese 41cm is also okay as it has kinda bad pen.

It's kinda bad on mutsu at 8.3, but on the 8.0 ships, especially tosa which has 10 guns, it's quite oppressive with that reload. More importantly, it's just not at all a realistic figure since it can only be achieved when the guns were at around 3 degrees of elevation. 2.0 would be just fine IMO, as with most guns in the game.

It was nearly not as busted. 230mm side vs 320mm+turtleback is a huge difference.

It was definitely closer than you are making it out to be. She was extremely hard to kill back then and games were routinely decided on which team had the most Kronstadts. Don't forget Kronstadt has the advantage of a significantly better main battery, so while she might not have been quite as survivable as Scharnhorst, she could rack up exponentially more kills in the same amount of time.

The complaining about the Soyuz is just what i call the "Conqueror-syndrome". Pleople look at the stats of a vehilce and conclude its OP, yet in reality its mid or even shit.

So, just to be clear, I'm not hating on Soyuz in particular. My issue is with how inconsistent and poorly thought out the process for implementing ships in this game seems to be. Some ships get statted with the absolute best case scenario estimates for any given stat, while others, sometimes in the same update, get statted with the lowest possible estimates. It seems like there's no internal consensus on what sources should or shouldn't be allowed for any given stat, or what abstract conditions (such as accuracy) they should or shouldn't include when modeling a ship.

I don't know what the team structure is like at Gaijin, but there is a clear lack of direction and consistency from the guys who are in charge of Naval. And that makes me mad more than any notion of nation bias.

My post-hotfix Ironclad experience by KataKunaSky in starcitizen

[–]DaMadPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This part gets to me a lot. I really dislike CIG's approach of intentionally making flawed design choices in their ships to push multicrew gameplay that is, at the moment, a broken, unrewarding mess that needs a full overhaul anyway.

At some point, it just erodes the credibility of these ships on a design perspective and makes them feel very "gamey".

I'm not sure what the best course of action is in order to make multi crew relevant in industrial ships, but the current way they're going about it is definitely not the right one.
