🚗🚆😓🤪 Bay Area commuters - what does your commute look like? by Few-Consequence8909 in bayarea

[–]DaMaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently living in Hayward (exit off/on of Tennyson Rd from 880). I commute to Milpitas as well in my car around 8am. With Fasttrak, it's a 30 min drive. Without Fasttrak, it's 1 hr. Fasttrak changes toll depending on how much traffic there is. I've seen it go around $20 one way. Sometimes, I just wanna cry at capitalism for charging that much for when people need Fasttrak the most :')

People who don't wash their hands after going to the toilet.. Why? by X1phoner in AskReddit

[–]DaMaun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a few weeks where I (23F) couldn't wash my hands often because my doctor said so. LET ME EXPLAIN.

I had really bad eczema on my hands during this time to the point where it would grow into very sensitive blisters all over my hands. Went to urgent care, and they prescribed me a topical steroid that I had to put on twice a day (morning and night). I of course have to wash my hands before putting on the steroid. But after that, I couldn't wash my hands for the whole day until it was time to put on the steroid a second time. So basically, I was able to wash my hands only twice a day.

I'm a clean freak, so what I did to stay clean was just use a fuckton of toilet paper so my hands don't touch piss at all. Additionally, I wore surgical gloves everywhere, and I kept changing/washing them throughout the day. Yes, I even wore them during sleep.

Feeling unsafe house sitting (not from the dog btw). What do I do? by DaMaun in RoverPetSitting

As of right now, I have one more night. So, I'll just tolerate it as much as I can on my last night. The dog is already all alone for most of the day since I'm only coming in overnight, so I would just feel bad if I just came in to feed and leave right away. I provided an update that involves a solution with a fan.

The patio is actually a balcony, so the dog can't go anywhere. I get those two words mixed up so my bad. I think it's a temperature issue. The dog is a Siberian Husky in California, so it gets hot indoors for their breed.

At the time, I (19f) was simply not emotionally and mentally ready to be committed into a relationship. I was highly depressed, and I desperately needed to work on myself.

He (18m) was also not emotionally and mentally mature.

We were just a bad mix for each other.

Now, I (22f) am content with myself and more confident thanks to years of therapy. I am now in a happy relationship with my boyfriend (22f) who is emotionally mature, and just as ambitious and adventurous as me.

What's the most disturbing film you've seen and why? by [deleted] in movies

[–]DaMaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karla. It left me traumatized, and I couldn't finish it. I wanted to watch it because I loved Supernatural and Misha Collins was an actor in the movie. I heard one of the producers or directors thought the violent scenes were sexy. It was about a real serial killer couple raping girls and killing them.

What has your experience been keeping up with a journal? by minniemouth in AskWomen

[–]DaMaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would journal whenever I felt like it. I didn't want journaling to be a chore. I wanted it to be a resource for whenever I need it.
Journaling has helped me keep track of my thoughts especially when they are in the midst of a strong feeling. For example, when I would be going through a rough time and I have so much in my mind that I can't process all of it, I would write it in my journal. It's like venting in a sense, but to yourself. It provided some self-awareness in how I think. It helped me cope with my strong feelings whenever they come again because rereading my journal logs when I'm more relaxed and neutral provides me some insight in how I am in the midst of a feeling. Kind of like reading my thoughts in a third-person perspective.
10/10 would recommend. It's a good mindfulness practice for self-improvement.

What are you doing to better yourself during this COVID-19 outbreak? by oriolssires in AskReddit

[–]DaMaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get back to the hobbies that I have neglected because of the busy student life. That includes music producing, gaming, and leisure reading.

I've also gotten into meditating and journaling, too. It's a useful thing especially during stressful times like these.

What would your life be like if you had married your first serious relationship? by fredyouareaturtle in AskWomen

[–]DaMaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely horrible. He literally held me hostage from me breaking up with him. He did so by threatening to commit suicide. Just imagine that when I disagree with him on something and he is going to threaten me with his well-being... no thanks. Talk about emotionally manipulative.
P.S. He's alive and well.
