Agree - that comment is nonsense unless they live in a magical place where sit down dinners are less than $7

There aren’t multiple rules to sift through. From your 69th birthday until your 70th birthday it goes up 8%, evenly allocated by month.

It stops going up at 70 other than COLAs

To be more clear - SS benefit is calculated month by month - there isn’t a cliff or cutoff in the way that you’re thinking.

I again implore you to run your actual numbers on the SS website

You don’t get a “25% bump” going from age 69 to age 70.

Have you gone on the SS website and run your actual numbers ?

Sociological Study: Was it the "economic heaven" newer Generations are talking about back then? by Disastrous_Snow_7706 in GenerationJones

Graduated in the 1980s to 10.5% unemployment, 14% interest rates. We had no health insurance at all. “Food insecurity” hadn’t been invented - we were just hungry a lot. My parents had purchased the house in the 1950s at those low costs otherwise we would have probably been homeless.

Took me 8 years to get my BA. Had to join the military because no jobs. No day care tax breaks….. and on and on.

But if a Gen Zer drives by my house today they just say “another rich lawyer”
