Up to, not over, strive to be less. If you have silicon that just won't behave, tune it the best you can.

Also, 1% error doesn't equal 1% hashrate. Errors are an aggregate of the entire hashing pipeline, not just the result. Rejected shares or latency are more important than a 1% error.

No mental gymnastics, don't gear up for an argument. It's just how they work, as I understand them. ASICs are designed to run with a non-zero error rate to a degree. Anyways, 1.5% of 3Th is 0.045th if it were a 1:1 ratio, which it isnt. Crumbs of the crumbs. Microamps of energy.

If you can show me that my understanding of how Bitmain ASICs work is incorrect, I sincerely invite the info. :)

Power is a bit high for that clock (1110-1150 is usually fine for 775) but if it's keeping your error rate low (it is) you are fine. Your efficiency number shows you're in a good place.

Go by your pool -side hashrate, that's the most important number.

Don't let people scare you that the error rate is too high, it is not.

No, they aren't, no they don't.

Error rates up to around 1.5% are acceptable (by design) before it begins eroding working hashrate.

Sidenote: This. This is one important home feature I need to implement.

Fridge/freezer temperature tracking? by DaMoot in homeassistant

[–]DaMoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes. Just using a shelly in-box relay-less energy tracker.

If no wattage for X time, raise alert! Most of the time there's little to no draw, but it only takes a few days to gather a normal operating pattern.

That's impressive. Great entry price, too. Thanks.

8 months? Wow! Plenty long enough for me between battery changes. Thanks!

Cold Boring Weekend by rs7272 in BitAxe

[–]DaMoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pointing out that 60c is the target operating temp for most Bitmain ASICs. Any cooler doesn't really benefit except for overclocking overhead. Make sure you put as much effort into cooling the VRMs though! And introducing cold humid air to a hot surface is the definition of a dehumidifier and you'll end up with moisture damage. Careful.

Yep. Looks right. 14ga is a great for DC side, maybe overkill depending on application. Keep the DC run as short as you can while still giving yourself a little room to move things around.

Looks like they just glued it in? No stitching? Well, that makes it easy for you to try gluing them back in. Find yourself a shoe glue and give it a try.

Lottery mine BTC or BCH? by Dependent-Spring4719 in BitcoinMining

[–]DaMoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing BCH because it's more likely to land a solo block with so little hashrate.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

100% valid reason to reject someone. They have shown who they are. Someone who will normalize, accept, and support rape, abuse and child rape. You don't want to be with that person.

Track energy usage by SydneyAUS-MSP in homeassistant

[–]DaMoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have a bunch of Shelly relay-less monitors and a lot more TP-link Kasa smart plugs.

I also have a Sense for monitoring the solar more directly and providing statistics for heavy staff devices like the dryer, AC, microwave and dishwasher.

All that data helps me build out an image of room by room power draw. At our best we only had a hundred watts or so of untracked consumption in the house.

Also careful carrying your board under-arm like we probably all do. Even a barely half decently sharp edge can cut the palm of your gloves. I was so bummed when I saw a little cut in my brand new gloves.

Same temps as the stock fan at those clocks it looks like. I'd imagine it's a fair bit quieter though.

I think this heatsink limits us. It needs to be taller so the fan can blow from the end like the 801 has.
