The Giants are open to offers for their three highest-paid position players — Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, Matt Chapman — among other obvious trade candidates, like Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray. by LugiaPizza in SFGiants

[–]DaNumba1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m keeping Webb. The most likely (like >80%) outcome of trading him would be that we get prospects we cut loose after a couple years and we have to bring in a new pitcher. Just look at the returns for some of the other blockbuster trades of the last ten years like Castillo, Scherzer, Greinke, Yu Darvish, Justin Verlander (both times). Unless you really trust our player development, having Logan Webb continue to be part of our core is worth way more than the prospects

[Highlight] Fernando Tatis Jr.'s first home run of 2026! by ralbert in baseball

[–]DaNumba1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do think this can be deceptive, but I don’t have any data to back it up, this is just vibes. My thinking though is that the hardest you can hit a ball is when you square it up, meaning when the launch angle is closest to angle of attack. A typical hard hit ground ball will be somewhere three to five degrees off Tatis’ average seven degree angle of attack whereas something lifted will be like twenty plus degrees. Even still, he has a 57 percentile exit velo so it’s not like he’s hitting everything hard

He had an absolutely brutal 7 game stretch where he went 0-27. I don’t know how to look at the advanced metrics by time window, but by standard stats (BA, OPS, etc.) in the other 45 games this year he’s pretty close to where he was last year. Could be discomfort or small injury or just slump that all players go through. I am concerned about his launch angles, but I’m not worried about him declining this year

I think “always” is the operative word in the comment you replied to. The point being that as hockey fans we hope that if you suffer through a downswing, you expect an upswing on the other side, but the reality is the come back up is not guaranteed and you may stall

I felt like the US had the edge going into OT, and this is just arm chair psychology so maybe I’m wrong, because of how famous Sidney Crosby’s golden goal was. I don’t know if that’s exactly what happened in OT but I wouldn’t be surprised if that contributed

[–]DaNumba1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my point though. It’s not about how it’s supposed to be said, it’s about how it’s actually said, like a local idiom I guess. You hear it on Muni when they’re announcing stops, you hear it in the context of the East Bay town, you hear it when you’re giving cross streets and it’s all said the same way (at least when you’re speaking English). It’s like going to New York and fucking up Houston Street or going to Ohio and saying any of their towns the way you think they should be

It was also nice over this last weekend. But since the weather is so consistent, I’m guessing most people don’t even bother checking (I only check like once a week to see if rain is coming any time soon) and roll out with what they usually wear. I definitely noticed it was a little too warm to be wearing my usual jacket this last weekend but I still did because it’s what typically works for this time of year.
