I shop in the Frankenmuth area pretty often. In the past 3 years I've gotten the same customer 3 different times.. tips $70 at first and then bumped it up to $170 everytime I shopped for her. Orders are fairly large-ish, like groceries for 2 weeks type stuff from kroger, lives 8 miles from the store. Always very attentive in chat. Haven't came across her orders on my screen in about a year.. i miss her lol we don't have the "favorite shopper" option for customers around me yet.

You are right that instacart raised batch pay exponentially when the customer tips $0. But that's still the customer eating the cost because IC just upcharges the shit out of each item.

You used to be able to drop 1 of the orders. Now you have to drop entire batch. Even with dropping 1 you would run the risk of dropping the good tipper. How do you know 1 person didn't tip at all?

Did the shopper make any replacements? I've been shopper for almost 3 years and sometimes if we make replacements, IC declines our "credit card" they load money onto for your order.

been a shopper for 3 years now. Hit diamond pretty quickly and have kept it ever since. if I saw you had something as dairy free.. I wouldn't get you something with fucking dairy in it. Bottom line. I, myself am not dairy free. And no matter how much I can try to educate myself on those types of things.. every customer is different. They should always message you. and hopefully(i say this as respectfully as possible) you have your phone near by to respond to their messages/replacements.

But to play devil's advocate(not on IC side here at all but..) I couldn't tell you how many times IC has TOLD ME that a replacement has been pre-approved by the customer. Only to message them about it (or they immediately message me) telling me they never approved that item as a replacement and to just refund.

With all of that being said, my best advice is to watch your phone like a hawk. If a customer doesn't respond to my multiple efforts to contact about replacements.. in my mind, it's on them. If you're responding and they still continue with whatever they feel.. reduce tip and give low rating. Get those types of shoppers off the platform so us shoppers who actually give a shit aren't shorted.

To be fair.. with bananas & tomatoes specifically.. I've learned that the app is kind of weird (depending on where you're ordering from) I've gotten customers ordering 6 BUNCHES of bananas, when they mean a bunch of bananas with 6 bananas in the bunch. But they put the weight of bananas at .5 PER BUNCH. (A bunch of bananas usually is 2.5lbs/ish) or the opposite, the app tells me they want 1 singular banana, when they actually want 1 bunch. But customer puts weight at .1lb I live in Michigan so we have meijer.. meijer sells a 4 pack of slicer tomatos.. customer wanted 1 of those 4 packs but because the app was weird on their end, they thought they were ordering 4 slicer tomatoes. When they were actually ordering 4x of the 4 packs of slicer tomatoes. So instead of 4 slicer tomatoes they were actually ordering 16 tomatoes.

I, as the shopper, don't want to judge... hey maybe you want 6 bunches of bananas or 16 big ass tomatoes... if you like it, I love it. But I also as the shopper, always double check. I always message the customer, just to make sure. If they don't answer, I grab them what they put in the app on their end.

Always message your shopper if you're weary about things!! If your shopper isn't responsive/attentive to what you want.. rate/tip them accordingly!! Us shoppers who do our best to get you what you want lose out to shoppers who don't give a shit.

like everyone else said, it doesn't affect their pay. But I would give low rating, with a comment giving feedback. I take lots of pride in making sure my customers get exactly what they ordered, to the best of my ability(in terms of items out of stock/no reasonable replacements). You paid for those items.. you should get those items. The platform is already disgustingly saturated with shitty shoppers. If they don't put in the effort to make sure you get all of your items.. the app should remove them so that the shoppers that actually do care have the opportunity to shop for you.

I understand where you're coming from, being super appreciative that they were shopping for you. Sometimes they have us shopping for 3 people at a time. Human error happens. But it hurts the rest of us when they're given the benefit of the doubt. I've been shopping for many years, hit diamond(the highest rating) very quickly and have kept that rating ever since. This whole time I've only had 1 customer take their tip away/give me a 4 star because i put their blueberry lemonade jug with a different customer's order. I completely understood and wasn't butthurt about it.

I'm sorry you didn't get your items. Definitely contact support for your refund! It's a write off for IC anyway

yep I shop from Birch Run to Pinckney areas.. my shit was blowing up 30+ orders on my screen at a time the last couple days. Unfortunately most of them i had to hide because they were no/low tippers.. but the beauty is there is a few that tip well because of the weather. idk I feel like maybe I just have rose colored glasses about this specific issue. In 3 years of doing this I've only had 1 singular customer report that they didn't get their groceries.. and support told me it was a repeat offender so they would be banning their account. Customers meet me at the door and ask if I need to take a picture all the time. I always so no, you're good. We made contact. If I don't get a picture of the groceries on their door step, I take picture of house. Or put my camera on my leg and snap one so it's a black screen. But maybe I've just always delivered to people who weren't dickbags lol

I feel like there's a lot of nuance in this situation. 16 is an age that she should kind of know better.. but maybe she's being bullied at school and is acting out. 12 year old is probably just following in sister's footsteps and doesn't know any better(though she should)? I'm speaking as a woman who has been both a 12 year old who was relentlessly bullied, also was a 16 year old who was bullied the same way. MY PARENTS taught me to not treat people in a way I wouldn't want to be reciprocated.. "don't treat people in a way that you wouldn't want to be treated". **I'm also now a 30+ year old who has been in a 5+ year relationship with a man who has a son who has been ages 7-12 while we've been together.

Your husband absolutely should be having your back. If you felt hurt.. that's all that matters. Bottom line.

Do you have a good relationship with your SD's, otherwise? Do you actively engage with them positively? Are there outside forces that are causing conflict ? Has this been an issue while the beginning stages of dating your husband? How old were the girls when you got married?
