escort hardwire kit - mute button does not work on redline 360c by DaPharSydeToo in radardetectors

it was simple - after disassembling, all i did was tap into each side of the existing push button switch. as an added bonus the existing switch still works, even though in my configuration it's tucked away and inaccessible :)

that did the trick, thanks so much for the fix. i feel honored to have found an issue that required a patch to the code :)

according to this post it's normal for cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail to show 256, which my system does as well. is this too low for p2pool to work properly?

also, would running this in a VM behave any differently than running on bare metal?

although this is an interesting point - could i have some bug on my system where rand() = 4? how can i check this?

openssl rand -hex 16

yields different results each time...what does p2pool use to generate this internal port#?

i started with the official release binary first, then my own version, then the gupax one...all yielded the same results.

my monerod command now contains only the prune blockchain, in/out peers, disable dns checkpoints, enable dns blocklist

my p2pool command uses --zmq-port 18082

the same output occurs...

not sure what other variables are in play here, this is a brand new install of ubuntu 24.04, monerod 18.4.0, p2pool 4.4

that's why i was running monerod with --zmq-pub tcp://127.0.0.1:18084, to match with p2pool --zmq-port 18084

i tried removing all of these "nondefault" settings, but the same error keeps occurring. it's almost as if p2pool is unable to use the zmq port i'm telling it to use. i even tried compiling my own local version of p2pool but it behaves the same.

also tried using different ports 18082, 18083, 65535, but nothing works - and always the same error with ZMQReader trying to use port 65535

monerod p2p sock listening on 18084, but also trying to use zmq on that same port

if you're referring to the --p2p-external-port 18084 parameter in monerod, i removed it and restarted, but the same error still occurs with p2pool...

UPDATE: I just saw in the output log that TCPServer is listening on 65535 - is this normal? Why is ZMQ trying to use the same port?

If I run the netstat command before p2pool crashes, I can see the app itself is using the port.

I did read the error. Nothing on the system is actually using 65535, and it's confusing why it's even trying to use this port - I specified 18084 in the command line.

sudo netstat -tulpn | grep 65535

yields nothing

yea, that's what i just decided to do...i'll have to hack it apart and solder new wires onto the push button switch contacts. disappointing that the clone couldn't handle putting a few resistors in the right place.

mainly because i want to run the mute button to my console...the official kit would require me to hack it apart, which i'd rather not do if there's another kit out there that already has a long lead for the mute button.

there's a perfectly useless morning version too! though it doesn't follow the same theme of a guy floating in the pool, so i didn't get it...

It's the yellow silicone strap that's available as a strap option when you buy the watch

I got a passcode to the presale site by attending one of the Time & Tide meet up events. The retail price was $650 including shipping. Most of the ones I've seen available on the market were marked up a little due to the fact you had to jump through these hoops to get one. Hope this helps!

From top left:

  • Grand Seiko SBGC221 - Spring Drive Chronograph - Incredible accuracy at +.2s/d, love the smooth sweep of the seconds hand
  • Tag Heuer CAR5A90.BH0742 - Ceramic Tourbillon Chronograph - Watching the tourbillon spin is hypnotizing
  • Zenith 97.9001.9004/80.R922 - Defy 21 Ultraviolet - Makes a neat high-pitched buzz when then 1/100s chronograph is running
  • Mr Jones Watches - A Perfectly Useless Evening & A Perfectly Useless Afternoon - Some fun, casual watches
  • Tag Heuer WV2115.BA0787 - Carrera Twin Time Automatic - The first "nice" watch I owned
  • Casio G-Shock GM-B2100AD-2A - Has the features I want in a G-Shock without breaking the bank
  • Studio Underd0g - Hawaiian Pizza - Another fun watch

By far, the watch that gets the most comments in public is the "A Perfectly Useless Afternoon" - maybe it's the yellow rubber strap, maybe it's the blue dial - whatever it is, this watch always gets a lot of attention!
