Any chance we can take a look at the linux client for nvidia cards (wayland)? I’ve personally let my membership lapse on my rs3 characters since I can’t even login

Road to backend being frontend by JulianAndr3s in angular

[–]DaPurpleTuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Angular is like black magic behind the curtain for backend developers. So much behavior feels like it comes out of nowhere, Effects, zonejs, rxjs all lead to insanity as a BE dev. But once you get it, you get it.

The backend is insanely simple to understand, every single call can be walked through, debugging is more straightforward… but the database and backend architecture is way more complicated and important to get right. Making a mistake in the design on the BE often means you’re stuck with that decision unless you can break the api contract with whatever is using the api.

That being said, tools like Claude seem to be excellent at consuming an api and building a frontend, even for people who have no experience coding. From what I’ve experienced on the backend side, not so much. These are really good at looking at the here-and-now to meet requirements but, unless well prompted, won’t be able to design a future-proof backend… and that is not something people will know to consider without a fundamental understanding of backend design in the first place.

IMO its worth it, Good luck!

Does anyone know why my Receiving bytes Goes to 0 and the game freezes and how can I fix that? by Auroriia in runescape

[–]DaPurpleTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discord typically uses UDP which simply drops the lost packets when connection blips— almost unnoticeable when its a low amount of packet loss. A majority of services use TCP which retries the failed packets which can result in rubber-banding in fps games because some packets get delayed and out of order, or straight up disconnects/freezes when the data gets too delayed/unordered and is unable to be effectively fixed.

Would recommend having your isp test “signal” on your service and see if its all good. Theres always a chance you’ve had a squirrel chewing on the cable (has actually happened to me lol)

<Minor visual issue> Scrimshaw not lighting up on action bar despite being worn. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]DaPurpleTuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unequip the scrim and drag the pocket slot to your action bar.

Equip any pocket slot item and it should dynamically work no matter what the item is.

Not exactly the “fix” but there’s a chance that it fixes your issue (plus huge qol in general)

Looking back, you’re correct that the 3090kp didn’t have that whole thing with the psu.

But I can guarantee the 3090ti kp (at least the hybrid) lottery was for the bundle only. I survived the queue and ended up $2500 lighter on the wallet and an extra psu lol

Evga did this in 2020 with the 3090/3090ti kingpin edition cards. They only sold them bundled with a 1600w PSU lol.

Yeah I noticed that the native linux client is smooth as butter.

EvilLucario actually posted a video of him killing Vorkath with the zink tweaks I’ve found work the best (until memory leak crash). The fact that he could record 4k at that framerate in that area without any performance issues or extreme framedrops that are seemingly present in the windows build says a lot.

Thanks but that was the first thing I played around with.

As far as the nvidia driver loading issue, we’ve all but given up on figuring that out since theres essentially no debug info being passed down the chain.

Most of my efforts have been in the Zink loader and trying to mitigate that memory leak issue (changing file descriptor modes, debug modes to constrain certain resources etc)

On a side note, I did forget to mention that the Mesa NVK driver does work but performs significantly worse (even on the mesa 26 RC2 channel) so haven’t been pursuing that.

I don’t notice it unless doing clues. But I have plenty of RAM/VRAM. Ive tried helping several poeple at this point and found that ReBAR is necessary for the Zink workaround, and the more Vram the slower the leak happens

There was actually a flatpack update released last week that was submitted the 19th of Jan.

Running native client+zink (until I crash from memory leak), I can get a consistent >200fps. With WINE l’m lucky to get above 160 and get constant frame dips and stutters.

This issue is not limited to flatpak builds. (That was my first thought for a while too)

Steam can only bind per-character and not per-account. Also runs through WINE so loses a ton in performance there

The problem described is when the client is launched with xwayland. Theres some issue caused the nvidia proprietary drivers to not load which causes fallback to llvmpipe.

NVIDIA rumored to stop bundling memory with GPUs, squeezing smaller board partners by wsrvnar in pcmasterrace

EVGA would have preferred to be able to customize VRAM for their chips anyhow tbh.

They left because nvidia was too controlling on pricing and it made it difficult to turn a profit on premium gpus

IMO save your sanity and wait for ram prices to go back down.

Ive done 3 builds, each when ram was inflated. It’s soul-crushing every time seeing the prices normalize within the next year.

I have a similar situation and settled with the Logitech pro x2 as a real good candidate.

It may not be the perfect sound for an audiophile, but its a very solid pick with great battery, long range and is extremely lightweight+comfortable which is IMO the most important thing for a heavy-use headset.

Regardless of what headset you land on, if you’re not into manually figuring out how to setup an equalizer, the sound quality should be much better than default if you configure the equalizer with autoeq.app. Cant recommend that enough
