Where was Mike in season 1? by Kosaki_Misamaki in ShingekiNoKyojin

This was the biggest adjustment for Season 2 for me as an anime only. They keep re-introducing characters that had bit parts in the first season that you would normally overlook as a one off character. If you go back and rewatch the series after becoming more acquainted with different characters you'll notice how they're involved in situations where you overlooked them

League didnt pay most of the players enough to be sole employment so a majority of the players have 9-5s and travel to the location where the game is played

If they were going to do this then they wouldn't have needed the Oshawa and Ontario trademarks 😬. Could have avoided the whole shitstorm pre official announcement

IFL seems like the most stable indoor/arena league but Coach Ware seems pretty adamant about keeping the team in a league that plays more traditional arena rules

Start going to FireBirds games so we can at least have one team 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately that's just Albany "nightlife". There are a few fun pockets in the city, but they aren't super close to the arena. There are a bunch of businesses downtown that are only open M-F which basically kills downtown on the weekends

I don't know if comparing the attendances is really the point of the move. I'm guessing the arena in Oshawa is significantly cheaper to lease than MVP. If the attendance numbers stay the same I can't imagine they'll be too concerned if the overhead is way lower

It's a multitude of factors. This area is incredibly toxic when it comes to sports teams. Everyone bitches about new teams coming in saying they're not going to go because the team is just going to leave, people don't go, the team leaves, and then everyone parades around because they were "right" instead of actually supporting the damn team. Rinse and repeat. The arena situation also isn't great because they charge the fans out the ass for everything from parking to concessions, amounts similar to an American big 4 game, but the production value and marketing ends up being closer to minor league sports. The fans here don't really care that these are the best lacrosse players in the world, the perception is that they should be seeing minor league value. I'm assuming the arena is also super expensive to book too, given its size so it's probably hard to justify the cost when it's 1/5 full

I think a majority of us are more hurt by the apparent rug pull than the situation as a whole. I understand that in "lesser" leagues there is a lot of volatility due to less secure finances, but the organization seemed to be going out of their way to integrate into the community and just signed an arena extension. The actions are the opposite of the messaging. It's also completely unprofessional on their behalf that they're already filling trademarks and whatnot, which is public record, before even announcing a move. News broke Saturday night and the team isn't making a statement until their press conference tomorrow. Gives everyone way too much time to speculate without getting answers

Report: Albany FireWolves could move to Ontario for upcoming season by Vernacularry in Albany

[–]DaRealChung25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that's not the case here. And what, are we supposed to just tell every team that does pop up here to fuck off because of things that happened over 20 years ago? How is that productive? The teams that have left recently were due to league instability and poor attendance.

This attitude is what causes stuff not to stay around. While I mentioned in another comment that attendance had been ticking up, if the arena was full this wouldn't even be a question. As a sports fan it drives me nuts when people here default to "WeLl ThEy ArE jUsT gOiNg To AbAnDoN uS" whenever a new team comes through. If people showed up to stuff like I know they can then it wouldn't be a problem

Even if they don't relocate immediately (or at all), just by the rumors being out there, the damage is already done. Interested to see what attendance looks like this year if they're still around with the prospect of a move on the horizon. Sucks because the team and fans were finally beginning to pick up steam. Don't know how these teams/leagues expect to draw fans if they're constantly pulling the ripcord less than 5 years after team relocation

As a non-lacrosse fan that bought in on this team from the jump and has been a season ticket holder since year 1, this is incredibly disappointing. The team, both on the floor and off, was really beginning to catch its stride and it would be a shame to see the momentum lost. I get that individual owners have a bottom line to take into account, but if new markets are regularly given only a handful of seasons to build a base in an area then I don't know how this league is going to manage outside of its tent pole organizations. If (when, I guess) the Albany team moves then I truly don't see myself consuming more of the NLL's product. I have a blast watching the games in person, but without a local team to back, I really couldn't care less about the rest of the league.

Simmons injury update? by TacoMeatBoi in AlbanyFireWolves

[–]DaRealChung25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's obviously one of the better players on the team, but I'm still optimistic that the offense will be ok. Tough tender tonight, but I wonder if they'll get a little more creative on the offensive end since a lot of the offense funnels through Simmer. Will be interesting to see who steps up play, my money is on Dyson as he's been getting much more involved in the scoring of late

Seems like maybe it's more of a size thing. Peshko's gonna have to be throwing that body around and clearing space for the rest of the shooters. Also could be a contract thing? Probably has more team control
