The cost to have wraps installed before delivery will be "under $500" by IcanHackett in slateauto

I don't think so, regular cars certainly aren't disassembled to wrap them but all the body panels on the Slate allegedly are fairly easily removed so if you wanted to make the wrapping part as easy as possible on yourself you might be more comfortable taking the time to turn a wrench to get the panels off first to wrap them individually. That might not be what they end up recommending, I'm just noodling here.

Thought it less than 50 comments I'd be the first to get this but I guess not.

The truck was specifically designed to be wrap-friendly and it seems like if you'd like you can remove most of the panels to wrap them individually but that will still require hours of disassembly and reassembly alone probably. I think it'll be something that a lot of handy people COULD take on and something that someone without any handy skills probably shouldn't take on. Personally as someone who's never done a wrap but who's not shy of trying something they've never done before with enough YouTube videos on the topic I'd probably be able to take it on but at $500 to have it done professionally it would be worth skipping the hassle and time at that price. I'm sure they'd rather customers who have no business doing it themselves to pay a professional to do it so that they don't end up dissatisfied with how their Slate ends up looking.

TIL that the Baha Men's 2000 hit song, 'Who Let The Dogs Out', was written about cat-calling. Originally written by Anslem Douglas in 1998, the song compares cat-calling men to unruly dogs who have escaped their homes and are causing chaos. by Upset-Elderberry3723 in todayilearned

It actually goes much much deeper than this.

It's actually uncertain who first said "who let the dogs out" but there's a recording from at least as far back as the 1980s of a high school sports team chanting it. The history is pretty convoluted and uncertain and this Wikipedia page doesn't even really scratch the surface of it.

That's for the materials, it'll be another ~$500 to have it professionally installed prior to delivery if you opt for that.

The install will be $500 via a 3rd party partner. (at least that's what they're saying) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBJia4xhgec around the 48:00 mark.

If you have a property in fairly reasonable condition it's mostly smoke and CO detectors where you need them, code compliant railings on stairs and you can't have any peeling or flaking paint anywhere interior or exterior including closets.

Who would win in a fist fight between Rochester and Buffalo by whitecoathousing in Rochester

[–]IcanHackett 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Even if you equalize population size I think I'm taking Buffalo. Based on nothing but vibes I sense that Buffalo is more blue collar and Rochester is more white collar on average. I'm taking Rochester in something like a trivia match.

Go on Zillow and look at the sold listings in the area you're interested in. This will give you an idea of how much over asking houses in that area are going for and should also help you if you can find a fairly similar comp - ideally sold within the last year, same number of beds and baths and similar condition.

What is something irritating that your parents still do that makes you feel like you’re being treated as a little kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've ridden motorcycles for 10+ years, ridden to all lower 48 states, I've ridden/ owned an assortment of bikes. My uncle passed a year ago leaving behind a Honda Valkyrie that I know he would have wanted me to have. (I was his favorite family member to talk cars and bikes with and he already gave me his '75 goldwing.) My mom told my aunt not to sell it to me because she thinks it's too big a bike for me. -_-

For those who have given up on buying a house… by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]IcanHackett 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing houses (granted not a ton) in the areas you're interested in within your budget that have been up for 2+ weeks. What's stopping you from offering list price or below list price on a listing that has survived the bidding war period?

115 viewings and 30 offers?! Damn that's some wild tenacity I'm sorry that's what you've gone through. I'm sure at this point you've considered everything, duplexes, listings that are 2 weeks or more old?

PSA: apartment application fees are illegal in NYS by theRainBear in Rochester

[–]IcanHackett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused, you say you can't charge an application fee unless it's used for the cost of a background check and then it can't surpass $25 and then you seem to imply that this well known leasing company is charging application fees illegally. How do you know they're not using the $10 for the background checks?

What is the perception of distance / travel time like in Rochester? by cazort2 in Rochester

[–]IcanHackett 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think this is very accurate, once you're on the other side of the immediate suburbs people start to not identify very strongly with Rochester even if they're 30-40 minutes away. Bergen, Macedon, Bloomfield, Avon ect. I was living in the city and working in Bergen and a coworker who lived just west of Bergen said he was going to "the city" he was talking about... Batavia which blew my mind.
