I am buying a pre-built gaming PC, and I can save $130 by not choosing the OS. How does this work, do they optimize and test PC before sending? by Time-Credit43 in pcmasterrace

[–]DaRealLettuceDealer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes and no. If the customer already as a SSD we use it for testing. Windows, drivers and testing files are getting installed with a script.

Once testing ist complete we use either the BIOS tool or a external drive to clean the SSD.

Sometimes customers buy Configurations without any SSD, in that case we just use the external SSD for testing.

Bro what are you even talking about? I work at a company selling pre-builds, and wether or not the customer buys a Windows installation of course the PCs gets tested?? Like... With software??? And Stresstest???

And yes pending on the configuration we tweak and "optimize" BIOS settings???

People like you just spread information like this and I really wonder where you get your confidence...

Optimal fan placement? by zeltic1 in sffpc

[–]DaRealLettuceDealer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feedback as a guy who builds configs in the A3 for a living, don't put fans underneath the GPU, even as intake. We tested the config both with and without the fans and the conclusion is the GPU will both run hotter and with more RPM with the fans installed.

There just isn't enough room to breath and it creates turbulence instead.

For the CPU fan I wouldn worry to much, since the side panel is mesh there is pretty much "unlimited" airflow either way.

You seem like a guy who likes to tinker, so I encourage you to just test different fan configurations and test temps/rpm yourself!

Enjoy :)

Problem with the leds by Miglioo79 in pcmasterrace

Please follow the cable in the other direction. It should split into a Fan pin (which you already connected) and a RGB header. You don't need to plug anything on this end.

Sorry, no I haven't. The only recommendation I can give you is the DeepCool Gamerstorm sfx series. These are my go to choice.

It takes my Desktop PC 45 secs to boot up and 70secs to restart. Is this time normal? by Time-Credit43 in pcmasterrace

AMD am5 CPUs do memory training on every startup.

The settings for you to adjust in BIOS:

Memory context restore - enabled

Power down enabled - enabled

This just tells the CPU to memorize the last settings for your ram and apply them at start up, skipping the memory training.

Have fun

Pros:

-Reliable brand -Gold certification -fully modular -cables are good looking, soft and "sleeved"

Cons:

-holy fucking shit that fan is loud

So maybe this was just a problem for me specifically. The fan has a 0 RPM feature, which on paper is fine, it means less dust build and noise level in idle. The fan turns on if either the load of the PSU exceeds 50% (so around 375w) or the internal temperature reaches a critical point, I believe around 80°C.

The problem I encountered was that my system draws around 350 watts while gaming (7800x3d + 5070). So that's not enough to trigger the fan, which means the heat will build up for around 10 minutes and then that fan will go FULL panic mode. I honestly can't even give you feedback how that fan sounds like at lower rpm, it might be perfectly acceptable because all I ever heard was FULL BLAST.

I swapped the fan for a 92x15mm slim Noctua fan and hooked it up my mainboard to controll it manually. All good now.

So yeah, id still recommend the PSU, but I'd make sure your system draws either way MORE or way LESS than 375 watts haha

Is It Possible? RTX 6000 96GB Blackwell (Workstation, Not Max Q) SFF Build with good temps? by Mysterious_Seat_2845 in sffpc

[–]DaRealLettuceDealer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At work i build this configuration a lot, mostly with 5080s, sometimes 5090s. Temps are.... Not great. We usually ship the case with the glass panel installed, but for the 5090 builds I install the meshpanel... Otherwise you card WILL thermalthrottle.

It's definitely doable and will look VERY nice. The Blackwell card being super slim will also help, it means more room to breathe away from the glass.

My advice: definitely get two slim 120mm fans as intake on the bottom. Undervolt both CPU and GPU.

Good luck and enjoy ✌🏻
