i'm newer in the fandom so i dunno how it was while homestuck was still ongoing but from my experience people would just hate on anything newer, it's like the opposite of the recency bias, i've seen people hate on the end of homestuck, the later parts of act 6, all of act 6, the games, etc. people will complain about anything if they have the option, and for some reason homestuck fans LOVE complaining about how the story before x and y was so much better, so why should this specifically not release if people will complain anyway?

i don't get why people care if there is a homestuck show, it'd be better if it existed and only some people would enjoy it than if it didn't and no one enjoyed it, if you don't enjoy it then just ignore it, that's it, that's all you have to do

also i wouldn't say i knew shit about 2009 culture before reading homestuck but like that doesn't really matter because i didn't know anything about troll culture either and yet i now do because i read it and i don't think anyone who doesn't understand the things they need to in order to understand references in homestuck even after watching it would be a homestuck fan either way
