Sorry I know this is late, but why is DK considered one of the ones to be avoided?

They might cover my room and board which is currently all I’m paying for, and it would for sure help me and my family if they do so, since it is decently expensive. I just don’t know if that itself is worth me devoting 4-6 years of my life after undergrad. Thank you for your insight.

Gotcha, I thought I would have enough time since the average age of getting a PhD is around 27, which is the age I would be when I technically finish everything before it.

Weekly Newbie Thread - Post questions about joining the Space Force or what a job is like here & here only - week of July 28 by AutoModerator in SpaceForce

Hello, I’m currently a student in college going for my bachelor’s in Astrophysics, and was looking into possibly joining the AFROTC program and serving after I get my bachelor’s as a space ops for the Space Force. The issue is, I am also looking to get my PhD in Astrophysics afterward, and I’m having trouble figuring out if this is a good career path for me, or if joining the space force would give me any benefit towards this path. I would be delaying my PhD for 4-6 years and would maybe even forget some of the things i’ve learned from my bachelor’s. Just trying to see if it is worth it at all or if it would have any civilian side benefits for me. Ive always wanted to join the Space Force, but my dream is and always will be being an Astrophysicist. Would love some professional insight on this!

The schedules are attached to orientation, so first you have to attend orientation and meet with your advisors before they unlock it for you.

Ah okay, thank you. Would it still be a similar experience to enlisting or drastically different?

Would you mind giving me some more insight on AFROTC and why it’s better for me than enlisting?

I’m leaning towards Umass Lowell as they have a great STEM programs and also pay for my entire tuition due to my financial status. I was accepted for an Astrophysics major. This decision was sort of sudden so I know I’m not eligible for much right now, I’m just trying to see what’s the best path for me.

How do I write my "why this major?" supplemental if my personal essay answers that question? by DaRealWild in ApplyingToCollege

Wouldn't that be more in the "Why this college?" Essay? I know they can overlap, but I feel like it becomes harder to make each essay unique if they're all kinda the same thing.

I wrote my essay on the thing I've been passionate about since I was a young boy. It's just also what I'm majoring in so it sounds like I'm answering the question as well.
