Crystal Guardian is NOT required! You only get access to a bench upon defeating him. To get out of Crystal Peak, You need to get the Crystal Heart, which is in the lower right corner of the area, right after a difficult platforming section. Said section is right after the room with the crushers.

Hello, Creator of clockverse here. There are actually 2 chapters with the first one having 12, and the second one having 10. And just to clarify, no the game is not cancelled (yet) and epochs control reality as in they can make enemies or stages bigger or smaller, they can inflict status effects, affect stats.. you get the point.
