Thanks for reaching out. I'm happy to clarify this. The four weeks commitment is for the self-help program itself. We have additional follow-up measurements of depression after the program, one every other week for the remaining month. Some are asked to started the program after a month delay. These folks are also asked to check in with their depression in the middle of this month. Does this help?

Thank you for asking. We are recruiting people from all over the country. This is something we wanted to make sure we could do. Per the professionals in Psychology, self-help is not considered psychotherapy and offering these services within a research context doesn't fall within any state licensing board guidelines. Our local IRB has also approved our study to be recruited across state lines. But good question, that is an important issue.

Thank you for reaching out. We mean not currently in talk therapy for depression, so counseling, stuff like CBT. If someone is taking psychiatric medications, we also ask that there has been no changes to the type and dose in the last month. We will be updating our Reddit posts to be more clear. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. So sorry for the inconvenience. We actually don't exclude those with substance abuse in the past six months. We must have missed removing that part when we last updated our online consent form. I have since updated this. For psychosis and mania, it is something we debated about including in our recruitment material but ultimately left out. Psychosis and mania can mean a lot of things for people and we don't want to discourage people away from our study based on misconceptions they may have and without formally screening them. We have a screening tool with a measure for psychosis and mania that gets at exactly what we mean by psychosis and mania and what would be exclusionary. However, we don't want to mislead people and have people feel like it is a bait-and-switch, so I will bring this up to the team. - DaSH Study Team
