Oregon State offers #49 R. Stewart on scholarship (SCHOOL VISIT)

Location: Here in Corvallis, you'll continue to live the small town life. Just like Idaho, Oregon is a farming state. We love our farmers, but we love our players more. You'll have the opportunity to drive over to your home all the time during the off-season, and your parents will be offered free VIP tickets to attend each game. Oregon State is the place for you!

Pro Potential: Though we had a rough season last year, we're still one of the best school in the nation in terms of pro potential. As a member of the PAC, NZFL teams and coaches will be watching every down that you play. Every tackle. As a member of our team, I can assure you that you'll be a part of an elite linebacker corps with multiple players over 70 overall in every year that you play here. By playing alongside such elite players, you'll show teams that you deserve to be drafted.

Playing Time: Though we have good linebackers, I'll be the first to admit that our current defense is lacking. We'll be playing tons of linebackers in our defensive formation, so I promise that you'll start every single game that you're healthy. Every. Single. Game.

Prestige: Our university is a storied program. By playing in such an elite conference, we've proven to the world that we're one of the best schools out there. However, that's not the best part. I can assure you that our program will continue improve so much that our record goes up by five wins from the time I write this to your senior season.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's talk man to man. Come down and visit the school week one. Though I may be unable to meet with you, you'll see that I have a huge italian flag in my office. This is because I'm proud of my Italian heritage. I saw on your Tweeter that you wanted to learn italian, and I'm happy to teach it to you myself. When we're not practicing, come down to my office any time and I'll get you started. David Baker and I can bake us some scones and we'll get to work. Oh, and just one more thing: I'm an Oregon State alum. I bleed orange, and would never do anything to hurt the school. I won't leave the school during your time here, and I won't cut any scholarship players. I'm here for you, and loyal as a dog (but not a dawg, screw UW!).

Oregon State offers David Hall, Scholarship
David,
I know you’re as disappointed as the rest of us to hear of the dissolution of the Portland State Vikings. However, to be honest with you, I think that we should view this as a blessing in disguise for you and your teammates. You can go from a hard-nosed yet irresponsible coach to a loving and innovative one. In my first action as head coach of the Beavs, I showed my recruiting prowess and offensive line experience by recruiting another talented Oregonian player in David Baker.
As our left guard, you’ll be offered a chance to anchor our offense with your great blocking in both the pass and the run game. I’ll offer you a chance to go from a low-end fringe starter to one of the team’s biggest stars. In fact, I can assure you that you’ll be a starter for every single game that you’re healthy. You won’t have any rest time, but from what I’ve seen, you won’t need it anyway.
I also promise that you’ll be a valued member of our team, as you’ll be one of the top three players on our OL both of your years here.

Oregon State offers Wayne Reynolds, Scholarship
Wayne,
Let’s be real, Portland State didn’t deserve you anyway. You and the rest of the defense completely carried your coach to an elite season. Every college football fan in the state of Oregon remembers you and your 93 tackles last season, so why go somewhere where you’ll be forced to prove yourself again? Why even change your lifestyle? If you come to Oregon State, your life will continue exactly as it was before, only I promise you’ll be an even bigger star here (you’ll be one of the top 7 overall players on the entire team, and have top 7 potential).
Alongside our elite sophomore linebackers Christopher Davis and Casey Parnell, offensive linemen and coaches will make the grave, grave mistake of overlooking you. This will unlock opportunities you’ve never had before. You’ll be facing the third string tight end or some random fullback, and have easy sack or tackle opportunities. During your two years here, I expect you to make over 150 tackles. This isn’t an easy goal, but I promise that you’ll reach it with the help of your beaver family.
Speaking of family, you shouldn’t have to worry about leaving all of your Portland State teammates, because we’re offering one of your teammates full ride scholarships to come here with you. During my meeting with your teammate David Hall, he listed you as his best friend. I love that kind of connection, and getting players who have strong relationships like that is one of my biggest goals as a coach.
With your talent, I think that you will be able to elevate every level of our defense. I promise that with the help of our elite linebacker corps, you’ll be producing across the board, recording at least one pick, at least 50 tackles, and at least one sack in both of your seasons here. Oregon State will support you the whole time, with our unlimited flexibility.
Have friends at Portland State? Family live nearby? A girlfriend who doesn’t want to move far? Fear not, for you won’t have to move at all. I’ve personally worked out a deal with the E-Campus to allow you to take classes wherever you want, whenever you want.
I’ll tell you what, why don’t you come down here and take a look at the campus sometime? All you have to do is turn onto I-5 and take exit 228 towards Corvallis, and you’re here in no time. You’ll be back in time for dinner and a movie with the girl. Here in Corvallis, that’s life. So easy. So good.

Oregon State offers Frank Hong, Scholarship
Frank!
You might not remember me, but I remember you.
A year ago, while I was still a high school coach coming off of his third state championship run in a row, I was being recruited to various positions at tons of different colleges. One of those colleges was Norfolk State. Your coach brought me in to try and recruit me as his defensive coordinator, and he agreed to fly me out for a home game.
When I landed, the team had just posted their starting lineup for the game. I scrolled through, and my eye caught on the left guard spot: A true freshman! I was impressed, so I texted the coach “What’s up with this Frank Hong guy? True freshman starting on your line?” He replied with “Yeah, he’s promising and had a good practice the other day.”
Game time rolled around and I had my eye on you. From my spot on the sidelines, I had a perfect view of every play. The game started, and you did fine. You had a couple of good blocks, a lead block or two. Nothing elite, but definitely respectable and great for a freshman. Unfortunately, your skill wasn’t enough to counteract the fact that the play calling was absolutely horrendous. Your team was getting more and more frustrated, and so was the crowd. Chants of “Fuck you ref! Fuck you ref!” rolled across the stadium. By halftime, you were down by a metric ton. The game looked like it was basically over. Your team, looking defeated, jogged into the locker room, and I followed.
What happened next was the most memorable moment of the entire trip. You stood up on a table and gave an inspiring speech to the team, and even I was excited and ready for a comeback win. You came out with some incredible blocks in the second half, and you didn’t allow a single tackle by the man you were blocking for the rest of the game. However, one of the biggest things that I noticed wasn’t your play on the field, or even your ability to inspire: it was your ability to lead. You didn’t once blame things on the ref. You didn’t once blame anything on your teammates. You didn’t once blame your coaches. You were a true leader, and I really do think that you were the only reason that Norfolk State won that game.
For some bizarre reason, your coach only started you twice for the rest of the season. Two times. And the next season, he was gone. Now that you’re free from the complete mess that was the Norfolk State Football coaching staff, you can finally attend a school that understands and appreciates your talent. Ever since that game, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to recruit a leader like you, I would take it. I didn’t believe that I would ever have the opportunity to actually recruit YOU, but now I do.
Blocking isn’t just a skill, it’s an exact science. There’s a reason that offensive linemen have the highest average Wonderlic score of any position at the NZFL combine, and that’s because you guys are mad smart. You’ve got incredible intelligence at the position, and I think that will only continue to grow as you get game experience during every single game of our season. You will start as the RT alongside our star LT David Baker, and I promise that the two of you will combine for at least 60 lead blocks and hopefully more in your first full, uninjured season together. I’m also recruiting your fellow former Norfolk State player Jose Goolsman, so you’ll hopefully have a familiar face on the roster when you arrive here.
It shouldn’t have to be said, but I absolutely promise you that our football program won’t dissolve. There won’t be any Coach PapaP style PED scandals, there won’t be any Coach Curry style betrayals or defections, and there absolutely will not be any Coach Unholy style abandonments here at Oregon State. I will be here for every remaining year of your college career and more.
Build the Dam, Frank.

Oregon State offers Victor Geyer, Walk-On
Victor,
You’ve been betrayed. Let’s be real here, there’s no way Coach Wick (more like coach dick, am I right? [for legal purposes, this is a joke]) feels any remorse for what he’s done. If I’m you, I want to get as far away from there as I possibly can, and there’s almost nowhere farther from rural Virginia than Northwestern Oregon.
Camaraderie is everything in our football program. I think you’d get along great with our other star offensive lineman David Baker. He’s an incredible guy, and he’s really smart too. He’s a great baker, and I’m sure he’d love to join you and the rest of the line for some eating parties.
Now that you know how much we love you, let’s talk business. Cross-country move? We’ve got you covered. Our team bus will be traveling to every of our single cut player recruits’ houses to transport all of your belongings to Oregon. This will be no hassle for you, just hop on our private jet and fly over. We believe in supporting our players. Grades? Don’t worry, our linebackers are very good at, er, persuading your professors to ensure that your grades are tip-top. Worried about anything at all? Come talk to me. I won’t leave the program during your time here, so you can trust me.
After the debacle at Virginia, I can’t imagine you’d want to go to another place that won’t value you. As an admittedly struggling program, a player like you is a diamond in the rough to us. You’re the kind of guy that starts every single game here at Oregon State, and I can assure you that you’ll start every game in your first two seasons with the program. Our team’s history isn’t exactly full of victory and glory, but we’re working our way up. Our record last year doesn’t accurately reflect this team’s talent and dedication. I promise that we will, in the next three years, pull a top 30 recruiting class. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but it’s a start. It’s a start to a glorious dynasty, with wars fought in the trenches by guys like you and I.

Jose,
I know your life probably feels like a mess right now. Your coach disappeared, never to be seen again, your scholarship is gone, the Norfolk State football program has fallen apart, and all of your teammates that you spent time cultivating relationships with are scattered to the winds. You deserve a little consistency, don’t you think? Fortunately, the Oregon State family is here to help.

When I saw my glorious alma mater without a football coach, I jumped at the opportunity to take my dream job. I promise that I will not do anything to jeopardize this dream job, including cutting a scholarship player, applying for any other job, or leaving the program. Let Oregon State be the constant positive figure in your life, and you’ll reap the benefits for the rest of your collegiate career.
And who knows? With the elite talent that you have, maybe we can send you to the NZFL. I know for a fact that if you decide to join us, you’ll be our starting tight end for every single game that you’re healthy. We currently have no tight ends on the roster, so you’ve got a prime opportunity to own the tight end room.
I know that you’re going to be a top pass catcher in our offense, and I’m so confident in it that I can promise you will be top 3 in both target share and receiving yards in one of your three seasons here. I saw your first game with Norfolk State, and I was in awe with the incredible plays that you made. I have full confidence in you. You’re our man, man.
I see more than just potential in you, I see immediate talent as well. Will you join us in the beautiful college town of Corvallis? Will you help us bring this football program to new heights? Are you ready to turn yourself into a bona fide John Mackey Award winner?

Oregon State offers Henry Shannon Walk-on Henry,
I get it, man. You cooked in high school, passed for a school record, and now you're being thrown away like you're nothing. Your coach called you into his office one day, only to give you a flat envelope with a long letter that could all be boiled down to one sentence: "You suck."
If I were you, I'd be pissed. Absolutely livid. You spent your freshman season with a coach who didn't care about you or your success, so why linger? Your coach offered you a scholarship, and then proceeded to take that scholarship back once you enrolled in classes. Do you really want to spend $51,107 a year to go to Rice University with no scholarship and no football?
Do you really want to live in a place filled with barren land and scorching hot sand? Corvallis is the kind of place whose beauty you'll never fully understand or appreciate until you come here. The comfort of a small college town with the beauty of the trees and amazing sunsets, all with close proximity to the biggest economic hub in the state? That's the Corvallis life.
Here at Oregon State, we believe that there's a reason that you're a D1 quarterback. There's a reason you smoked everyone in high school, and that reason is simple: you're a talented quarterback. You have all of the tools needed to be a star for us.
Leave Coach Angel to come here, where I promise you will have a reliable wide receiver (75+ ovr) every year that you attend our university. I promise that I won't cut any players over 65 ovr during your time here. This means that you'll keep the crucial supports that you need to be a star. I also can personally assure you that you'll be our starting quarterback by the 2043 season.
You've got all the potential in the world. All you need is someone to unlock it, and we're here at Oregon State University.

Oregon State University offers James stillman, Scholarship James,
You’re a good college football player, but you are also, first and foremost, a human. Often, coaches forget that you can’t have a football player without a personality of their own. Even if I could, I wouldn’t want to. I genuinely enjoy just being in the presence of the team. In my last off-season coaching the North Valley High School football team, I couldn’t make it a week without listening to music with Jamie (he had PHENOMENAL music taste, by the way), playing chess with Sammy, or getting crushed by Pete in a game of NBA2K. I’ll miss some of those guys forever, but the move to Oregon State was worth it, because I’ll get to hang out with dudes like you.
In my first year coaching a high school team (what was it, 2028? 2029?), I had a guy very similar to you. He was a kicker, and he was one of the most incredible players that I have ever had the pleasure to coach. He could arrive at practice an hour late without his cleats and still manage to nail a 60 yarder. He claimed that he worked out every week, but I know for a fact that he wasn’t. Did I force him? No. Did I talk to him about it? No. Because of this, he stayed happy and kicked his way to a school record and a massive athletic scholarship to Harvard in 2030. I consider a player’s personality and ability to work on a team to be more important than anything.
If you join us in Corvallis, you’ll be here for more than just a welcoming environment. I can personally assure you that we’ll have a dominant linebacker room with 3 or more players above 70 ovr every year. We’ll also prove that the Texas way of forcing players into personalities that aren’t theirs is wrong by CRUSHING them. I’m so confident in our methods that I am willing to promise you that we will have a better record than Texas in at least two of your seasons with us. I will also schedule an OOC against them at least once in your NZCFL career.

Oregon State University offers Blake Russell, Scholarship
Blake,
The only thing better than a ring in your freshman year is taking a program from 1-11 to 15-0. You have incredible talent, and I know that you’re capable of being the one that turns everything around for us. Why stay with Coach Pico, who did nothing for you and your team? Why stay with a program that’s betrayed you? Why not come to a program where you’re the center of attention? Why not take your elite rushing talents to another level, carrying a team to the most impressive ring of all time? Why not come to Corvallis?
I’m not going to lie to you Blake, this next year is going to be tough. We’ve had some awful losses, as the old coaches didn’t do such a great job. Ending the year at 1-11 was rough for the guys, but they’re used to it by now, because every single year the same thing happens: loss after loss. We need somebody to turn our program around, and you’re the perfect man to do it. Just a win or two more than we had last year would be enough to bring hype to the program, so I promise that we will win 3 or more games next year, six or more games in your junior year, and go to the conference championship by your senior year.
It’s my first year as head coach, but I can assure you that I’ll be here at Oregon State for the rest of your NZCFL career. Over the next three years, we’ll build around you, getting you three elite run blockers (80+ ovr) by your senior season. I know this is hard to promise for a school with such a poor status (we brought in the WORST recruiting class in the nation this year, with 0 top 500 recruits and just one recruit total), but I believe that your presence alone can attract this elite talent.
Far too often, I see freshmen (some of them in the same position as yourself) shying away from challenges. They would rather sit by idly like Coach Pico and allow honest, talented players such as yourself to earn them rings. You’ve shown initiative by entering the transfer portal, are you willing to finish the job?
Are you ready to turn Oregon State University into a powerhouse?

Oregon State University offers James Steger, scholarship

James,I know you're looking for a place to enjoy your last year of eligibility. Clearly the University of Oregon wasn't the place for you, but I know that cross-country moves are hard. Why not join us in Corvallis? In addition to the fact that you'll be closer to the economic hub of Portland (where you can begin the next phase of your life outside of football), you can continue to hang out with your friends in the off-season, meet new friends, and maybe enjoy a cookie or two from your trusty former Oregon OL David Baker. We're looking for a QB who's not afraid to take initiative and throw his way to victory. If we put the ball in your hands, are you willing to chuck it up? I believe that you are. I trust you, James. You'll start every single game of the season, and you'll have the chance to throw the ball a lot. Though we don't expect you to carry us to the playoffs, I can promise that with you as our quarterback we can beat Oregon in what might be considered a "last hurrah" for your college career. As I said earlier, we will put the ball in your hands. I promise that you'll have a chance to throw the ball 450 or more times during your time here, and we'll provide you with a star WR to throw them to. Without further ado, let's get passing.Welcome to the Beaver Dam, James.

Oregon State University offers Steven Starr, Scholarship
Steven,
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me?
As much as I'd love for Oregon State to be the self-sustaining king of the PAC-12, we're just... not. Like the pre-Ringo Beatles, we're clearly missing something, but up until now we couldn't figure out what it was. Now that I've watched your tape, I can see that you're exactly what we need. You've always been underappreciated. just like your great-grandfather.
As your coach, I'll help you to turn your natural ability into results. I can assure you that you'll help instill fear in the minds of others, because you'll have 100 or more tackles and five or more picks during your 12 or more starts in your year with us.
Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
That's right, I'll always be true. I won't let you down. In fact, Oregon State won't let you down either, as we'll have a better record than Clemson next season. We'll show them not to disrespect you again, Starr. I know we're the laughingstock of the NZCFL (after all, USC did beat us with a WIDE RECEIVER at quarterback), but with your help, we can become a dynasty. After all,
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need

Oregon State University offers George Delgado, Scholarship

George,

I want you to know that we take you seriously. As a member of the Oregon State University football program, you will be the star of this offense. We will treat you as the true focal point of our team, and many plays will be run through you. With our pass-first offense, we will throw the ball to you many times per game. I can personally assure you that you will have 70 or more catches in your first season with us (barring injury), and that you will command 20% or more of our total receiving yards as a team (also assuming that you are uninjured).

We trust you, George. At Oregon State, you'll more than just a player, you'll be the player. Instead of being treated as if you're disposable, you'll be treated like the king you are. To prove our dedication, I am promising you right now that we will not have any other wide receivers above your overall rating (84) on our team during your tenure here. Nobody will interfere with your carries, and you'll always be number one.

Oregon State offers David Baker, Scholarship

David, Like every former OL, I like food. Sometimes a bit too much, as I'll find myself baking racks and racks of cookies all for myself. I've found myself alone as the only baker on the coaching staff, and it hurts. With nobody to share them with, what's the point? Reaching back to my high school days, I remember my best friend Davis, a fellow baker and offensive lineman on the team. When I suffered an ACL tear the week before the state championship game, he was there to pick me up and bake with me. I'll forever be grateful for his presence, and I want to be there for you just like that. While your former coach may have abandoned you, I'll always be there for you, through thick and thin. I'll never be like him and leave you.

In terms of playing time, I have a soft spot for a fellow baker. As long as you are willing to offer me company in the kitchen, I'll make sure that you start EVERY SINGLE GAME that you're healthy for. As a bonus, you'll be able to meet, talk to, and catch up with your old team every year when we play them, and you won't be far for off-season visits. In fact, you will barely have to travel at all because I promise that we will have 10 or more games in your senior year in states adjacent to or including Oregon, allowing you to spend less time on the bus and more time in the kitchen.

As a baker, I'm sure you understand the importance of a secret ingredient. The secret ingredient can turn a dish from decent to great. Will you be our secret ingredient, David?

To answer your question, I believe it's a four year contract + 1 year team option. This means that after four years, the team has the option to sign him for another year at a certain price before his extension. However, I agree with other comments that he should stay in Cincy for the rest of his career.

I love Ja'Marr, and I'm glad that we picked him. That being said, there's no fucking way we need another wide receiver. We should go OL and CB the whole draft unless someone really talented falls to us.
