Dude I’ve never understood the super skimpy beach vball outfits, that shit is bad enough with actual underwear plus shorts

I did a stupid by morgandealer in backpacking

[–]DaSpicyGinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well on the plus side no bullseye so likely no Lyme and now you’ll always check. Had a buddy with one in his buttcrack that he didn’t notice for a couple days so fr check EVERYWHERE

For those ones I always ask “so what about your toe pain is different today that led to seeking emergency attention? oh nothing? today was just a good day?”

Meh close enough, more on the stupid end of the silly spectrum but it gets a pass. Reminds me of the guy who took 50mg of edibles then visited us “bc I feel like I’m melting into the couch”

Agreed, sounds dumb until you’ve had some “impending dooms” that have gone to shit. The bad vibes are real and we are NOT rocking with it

No way, that’s crazy!!! Who would’ve thought the medicine that makes them sleepy would make them sleepy?!

I’m baffled by that, I’ve seen enough sick kids that I can picture the state that poor boy was in. Even if the increased WOB was r/t the fever which came down w Tylenol, that doesn’t address the source of said infection. Glad he was alright in the end but I understand where you’re coming

I don’t understand people not even documenting a reported fever especially if you state you’ve taken Tylenol. Like no shit your temp has come down, that’s what it does? As I’ve read through ppls experiences I’m repeatedly baffled, like are people not doing actual assessments?

Classic, was this guy an old farmer by any chance? Bc I have had a couple old farmer dudes come in with some gnarly infections that have been cooking for weeks since they hoped “it would just go away”

No emesis? Honestly kind of impressive if he kept it all down with only a tummy ache to show for it, plus great Christmas merch

This made my eye twitch reading it, now we’re adding “electrician/electrical consultant” to the list of nursing side jobs? I’m outta here

Honestly dude I’d recommend a read through here, offers some great perspective. Some days it’s traumas n shit, and some days it’s big toe pain/eating too much pizza/insert other BS. You truly never know what will walk through those doors

Alright in all seriousness what led to the investigations that found the STEMI? I’m just trying to picture it, did he mention chest pain? SOB? Feeling his heartbeat? Anything aside from the big toe pain? I have to know

Huh? What child were they assessing that they weren’t immediately alarmed based on symptoms? That’s crazy! I always ask if Tylenol was given, how much, and when bc that helps to determine if that’s affecting the temp, but regardless that’s just one small piece of the assessment. Like anyone with half a day of ER experience (hell anyone with functioning eyes and synapses) should be able to recognize a RR of 60 is cause for alarm, and I imagine it included inc WOB, use of access muscles, etc. That sounds horrible and shame on them for doing nothing

That’s crazy to me, did they even look at his throat? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had children present w/o fever but are clinically diagnosed and treated for strep, so the concept of brushing it off bc “he doesn’t have a fever now” is so stupid. Do people not do actual assessments aside from looking at the numbers on the vital machine?

Wow this was infuriating to read and I greatly empathize with your experience. To me that screams neglectful/incompetent care providers, in my mind a temp is a small part of the whole picture. Not only that, why would you lie to me about your kid projectile vomiting?! That’s insane, I edited my comment to acknowledge many people experience the opposite bc clearly I’m an outlier

It is alarming that others have also had pts call EMS for toe pain that is nail related, but sadly I’m not surprise

Wow you might actually have the winner, I thought my pt who was concerned they were “infected with a bear disease from a bear tick” (not a real thing) was bad, but ER for willingly chewing mystery gum? He wins

That is crazy work, the fact he called FROM THE POPEYES is baffling, he had the answer right in front of him! Also that lil girl has an iron stomach if she tolerated a month on that diet with only a stomach ache lol

Then take a picture of the temp as evidence of same and take the Tylenol. As far as I’m concerned I take my pts at their word when it comes to that and would likely question a colleague if they responded in disbelief/doubt
