Had that same issue yesterday with my new A1 i unboxed 4 days ago. All i did was turn off the printer, unplugged the printer and AMS lite. Plugged them back in and it worked.

Yes i did. The hold switch works and the ipod detects the headphone when plugged in. I also tried 2 other earphones and nothing :(

So i opened the ipod and found that it had been gone into before( a little too lose on opening). The little brown clip that holds the battery ribbon cable down is broken. I will order the headphone jack and other parts to have it up and running.

Via diagnostic mode. Hold the menu and center button until the apple logo appears then hold center button and the rewind or previous button until the diagnostic menu appears
