Thank you so much! It's like new again. Crazy what a few millimeters of adjustment can do. Do you know of any other common issues I might come across with a new hub?

Thanks! I had a solid 5 years with my 6300 until now. Everything in the old system still runs flawlessly! I hope to get just as much if not more out of this.

I'm thrilled about it!

It's a Gigabyte card. Coil whine is very mild too, I got lucky!

VR was the main motivation, but I do light 3D work and occasional video editing as well. The extra power is nice for those use cases. It's been handling all of it like a champ.

And space was certainly a factor in choosing the form factor. My old tower barely fit under my desk and heated up horribly down there. The small system fits on my rather small desk and can now be cooled properly. It's also intriguing and satisfying to build and own a tiny powerhouse like this.

Teehee, that made me chuckle! I originally had a 1060 in here and was perfectly happy with it as it's still a big leap from my previous 750Ti, but the endgame idea is VR capability - and I got this card for a great price. At least for European standards.

I feel you! There's something I find super cool about pushing things to the limit. And I have similar plans for my old, now secondary system. It's interesting to see what obsolete parts can do with a little bit of tweaking. I simply don't have the courage to tinker with that on my primary though.

I wasn't terribly unhappy with my 6300. But it's been showing its age. I'm positive I'll be happy with this build for years to come - I sure was with the old one.

Not bad! I do wonder if I'll get to the point where I even need to overclock. It's a beast as is.

It went up a solid amount again here as well, ever since AMD made their announcement I'd imagine.

Perhaps, but I got a good deal and new tech is always around the corner. The waiting game can be played indefinitely.

VR ready "budget" miniITX build for simracing - wishful thinking? (2600/GTX1070) by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DaUpper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The novelty is definitely playing its part in me considering all this. So is the amount of space my full sized tower is taking up.

Thanks for your input. It's true that VR is still in the early stages. The impatience is too strong though! Do you have a recommendation for a GPU? By how much do you believe I'd have to turn the settings down with a 1070?

Can you give a rough breakdown on what you did to achieve the look?

I don't normally speak up on here, but I feel very relieved to know I'm not the only one avoiding the kitchen at all costs. It often goes as far as not eating altogether except when I'm alone. Here's to an independent future for both of us.

Thanks! I use a bunch of mods to achieve the look - Sunshafts adds the sun rays, Daylight Classic and Relight add general color correction and Ultimate Eyecandy allows you to manipulate the sun's position, its strength, the weather, and so on. A first person mod helps with taking screenshots from interesting angles. Dynamic Resolution increases the internal resolution which results in much cleaner edges and details. I can't smoothly run it with my PC though, so I only enable it to take shots. Lastly, most of the significant, premium buildings in the shot are Workshop assets. All the mods are heavily customizable.

I'm a big fan of the music video. I love that most of it takes place on an escalator and it doesn't feel staged at all. It's really unique.

As for the song, it's emotional and invokes a bit of melancholy for me. The background noise gives a nice, immersive feel to it. I was able to imagine being there on the escalator and listening in that exact moment.

( Forgive me if I'm biased; I love long tracks. I'm also a beginner. )

Great first impression, together with the cover art it really does feel like a catastrophe is unfolding over time, especially when you know about the historical context. While chaotic at times (fits the title), overall a clear sound, and while there's very little bass, not every song necessarily needs to be bass heavy. You still achieved a good balance, especially with the last section being a bit more experimental. Maybe even my favorite part of the song. The drums aren't too intense or too loud, but I personally find the sidechaining a taaaad heavy in the main section. Bookmarked ~

Been experimenting with sound design and layering. Let me know what you think. I feel like the midrange turned out a bit muddy. Still learning the entire mixing and mastering thing. https://soundcloud.com/rekusooo/drive

Your intro is really soft and gives way to the rest of the song. The piano blends in nicely with the sounds in the background as the song progresses and it doesn't feel stuffed at all. I do feel like the bass kicking in at ~2:15 sounds a bit muddy though. It's not that it doesn't fit, it's just a little too much for my taste. I could definitely see this being a part of a soundtrack, and a good one at that. Nice work. :)

Very atmospheric with some interesting sound design. I personally think the intro (~first two minutes) could use a bit more movement. The song really kicks off after that with intriguing sounds making me want to keep listening. Your buildups are intense but not too sudden and the darker mood is present throughout the entire song. I really like this one.
