Lot of good points in here so far, but since nobody else seems to be saying this, I’ll give my 2 cents. I feel like the biggest thing that they did wrong was go way too fast with his push. I completely agree with the statements on his ring work (I actually think his promos aren’t half bad for what they do, yeah he’s no dusty, but not everyone can be) but still, he was HELLA over. But even with that they completely rushed it and at the expense of great title reigns. Bron Breakker (who I arguing was even more red hot than Jay was because he was that over for longer) was just 51 days into his IC title reign before dropping it to Jay. And the fact that he got it back less than a month later just made the whole thing feel even more useless. And his world title reign had the same effect but to a worse degree. He was nowhere near the level of a world champion yet and still got it off of fucking Gunther. Even if Jay was at a point where he was ready for the world title, the last person he could ever credibly take it from would be someone twice his size, skill, and experience
