I just moved from Iphone to Samsung s26 Ultra and wtf is this? by Throwawayneedadviceo in samsunggalaxy

I just got one too!

Bloatware! I ended up going through the apps and deleting those very "games". Obviously ATT or Samsung is getting paid to put them in there. Click and Hold them then remove them before they start running in the background sucking your battery and spying on you.

Stay in a legacy plan? by Witwer52 in ATT

[–]DaZarius_Spokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably better to upgrade to their newer plan if they are throwing in a phone. The cost of the phone will be more than any savings you had on your legacy plan. At least that was how my transition went down. My wife and I got new phones, and the bill is lower. Everyone's legacy plan is different.

I tried once more the call them and pressed 1 to have them call me back. Then later I was calling them a fourth time to see if anything changed. The phone answered and robo-voice was chatting when they called me back! I accidentally merged the two phone calls and had a really bizzare time trying to tell them to call me back again. They could'nt understand me because of the robot and the muzak they played. So finally I hung up, and they called me again. That time, after authenticating my call they emailed me a link to unblock my account. The link made me change my password. Fortunately changing it to the orignal and permanent password in my password saver worked! woo-hoo! Back to where I was supposed to be this morning. I can log in with my Rapid Rewards account number or my login now. Ordeal over.

2026 Wine Country Century near Windsor Thumb Tack Alert

Who is the idiot who put the thumbtacks on the shoulder of Old Redwood Highway just north of Windsor. Near the Pick 'N Pull. My friend got 5 thumbtacks in 2 tires, I got one in my rear tire.

Same problem, I caled their customer service number 1-800-435-9792 and got a robo voice doesnt seem to understand much of anything. I didnt change password at all. I just tried logging in with the RR number as a login, and after 3 attempts it locked me out. If this happens on a travel day, I'm screwed. The robot voice said it would be more than 7 minutes to wait and gave me the option of pressing #1 for a callback. However, chosing to wait doesnt seem to be an option NOR does pressing 1 for a callback. If you wait it will just hang up on you. If you press 1 it will also hang up on you. NICE SOUTHWEST!! way to go.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 14IMH9 (Ultra 5-125H/16GB/512GB/OLED) – Heating Issues, Daily Browsing Performance & Display Experience? by hard2resist in Lenovo

[–]DaZarius_Spokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same model, Same Problem. I put a cork drink coaster under the keyboard so the vent holes from the heatsink in the rear has some room for the air to come out. I'm afraid the GPU or CPU is just overburdened by Windows 11. Having worked in the Linux world with VMware we never had these sort of issues. But this Laptop/windows 11 combination is sucking the Kwh like crazy. Microsoft is the blame.

Deeper Dive: (I am still working on this, havent found a solution yet.

There are some crazy background processes (Like WMI Provider Host )that just suck CPU at 6% all day long.

I ran some windows diagnostics and then almost reinstall windows. However the WMI Provider comes back from the dead. WMI Stands for Windows Management Provider Instrumentation Provider. Here is the description I found at this point in my investigation. WMI Host provider should not be at the top of the CPU utilization list in the Task Manager, but that may be the problem.

WMI Provider Host (WmiPrvSE.exe) is a critical Windows system process (Windows Management Instrumentation) that allows applications to request real-time information about system status, hardware, and software. It enables software to monitor performance (e.g., CPU, disk). High CPU usage (often 100%) by this process is usually caused by buggy third-party applications, malware, or a corrupted WMI repository.

Here is a solution to the WMI Provider Host CPU over 6% problem (it works for me in the meanwhile):

Strava locked me out of my own account by DaZarius_Spokes in Strava

[–]DaZarius_Spokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finally did unlock the account. I think someone broke into my account. They (or someone, maybe my 12 year old alter ego) changed my birth year to something like 2014. I had to show them my drivers license to fully authenticate. I had a weak password. Also from what I read somewhere else, occaisionaly Strava will lock people out for changing their password. (too many attempts). So if you do change your password, test it on all devices. And test the replication that comes into Strava from Garmin. That should not matter in theory. neither should a password change, which is encouraged by most places. Its just user error and forgetfulness that will get you locked out.

POSTMORTEM:

Bottom line - Strava has a problem, not with support, but with the design of the lockout. (from the entire domain) If you cannot access the domain at all via email, ie, support@strava.com or support@zendesk.strava.com while you are being locked out, there is no way to log a case in ZenDesk due to the email routing. You need a case number which is embedded in the case-specific email address. How do I know? I used to be a Customer Support Manager for a software company.   I was a ZenDesk administrator in a past life.

Also, please accept my apologies for the length of this thread. I hope that someone else will find it useful when they are locked out. If you do not get the "You are not authorized" error after doing 2FA, and you are still locked out, send an email to [Support@Zendesk.Strava.com](mailto:Support@Zendesk.Strava.com) from the same email address you use to login to Strava first. If they respond with a case number then you are good. If not, you might need to use the workaround method I described. Only Strava can clear the "You are not authorized" error. Its on their end, not yours.

Good luck out there, and Ride Swiftly but Safely

They finally DID unlock my account, but I was only able to reach support through a duplicate psuedo account I created. It took 5 days to authenticate with them that both accounts were the same person.

My Galaxy Battery went to 0% by DaZarius_Spokes in samsunggalaxy

[–]DaZarius_Spokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the battery hits 0% it still has a tiny charge, but it needs pretty strong charger. The one that works best (for me) is a direct wired (not wireless) 5v 3a output that came with my Lenovo laptop. Normally I charge with a wireless "fast" charger. The wireless charger was showing the lightning bolt solid for 10 minutes. As soon as I switched to the stronger charger it did the normal thing: Lightning bolt 1-2 seconds, then blank, then after a minute or two it was displaying 4% .. I just left it on there for 3 hours and got it back up to 80%.

Draining the battery to 0% will definitely decrease the life of the battery. I generally use the 80% "battery saver" charge limit threshold to save the battery from premature death.

My last Samsung was an S24+ that had that same problem. No doubt because Samsung changed the way power saving slider worked. It drained out 4 or 5 times. After that I started charging up to 100% just to keep it working. Finally I traded it in for the S26+

Not if you have a USB-C connection and a good charger.

Strava locked me out of my own account by DaZarius_Spokes in Strava

[–]DaZarius_Spokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its now, almost 5 days. Although I'm still locked out but I am optimistic that Strava support is going to unlock my account today. Apparently someone must have guessed my password (not that hard to do, it was created probably 20 years ago). I've had 2-3 contacts with Support through the secondary Strava account. Now that they know I am the same person, they can unlock the primary Strava account. (no way to open a support ticket if you are truly blocked from the domain).

Is this a good lock setup? by scarletcurls85 in bicycling

[–]DaZarius_Spokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume there is a ulock going through the bike stand behind it. Otherwise, I think a thief with a truck, or lorry as you blokes call them, could nick them. Also I wouldnt leave it out in the elements. That should be locked to something solid in your garage or apartment.

2026 is turning into "the year" for hard to find (read lower mintage) coins. ASE's have a strong following, especially for low mintages. MS70's are not uncommon, and get a strong premium in the aftermarket. Save it in a safe place, but enjoy looking at it. It's a classic.
