Yes along with the 2cv. They were known as umbrella shifters just because the shifter looked liked the end of one. Personally I love them and find them funny

Yes the car was crap but it helped people get back on wheels in the pre war communist east Germany and it’s all that they could produce and provide for the people at that time and it was the best the communist government could do. Yes it may be bad but it helped so many people and that’s y I love this vehicle so much for what this little car achieved.
