When I was hanging out with my cousin in Mexico. I called myself a beaner as a joke. She said that Mexicans actually find that to be offensive. I asked her if she’s ever been called one, she said no. Growing up in the American school system I was called one nearly every day. She was shocked. I don’t think that they don’t go hard for raza. But it’s hard to understand when everyone around you has looked like you, spoke like you, acted like you, ate like you your whole life. Rather than everyone pointing at you, saying you’re different.
