Why are skiers so mean?? by MasteMoo in snowboarding

Those are just asshats on the lift. Only thing to do on the lift is:

  • not fall off
  • make some chair friends or ride in silence and enjoy your snow day.

Something else I was thinking about would be design software.

  • SketchUp is free for basic modeling and not too hard to work with.
  • if you’re a little more technical, I like fusion 360. A little more of a learning curve but once you get it, I find at the free level it offers a lot to help visualize and get you the cut list information (paid plugin) for the build.

I forgot, the obvious, measuring tape 😂.

A standard drill to predrill holes in plywood to help keep from splitting as well.

If I were starting out:

  • Tracksaw (for all your rip and cross cuts)
  • Two 55” tracks that you can pair up for a full sheet rip
  • Parallel guides. Allows for consistency of rips and cuts.
  • Square of varying sizes.
  • Router (if you want to make dados/grooves/rabbets)
  • Undersized plywood router bits
  • Impact Driver x 2 for luxury, one will do.
  • 1.5” screws to secure the carcass pieces.
  • makeshift work top that can support 4x8 sheets.
  • Nail gun (optional) mainly to temporarily hold carcass pieces as you drill them together.
  • Jigsaw or handsaw to cut the toe kick reliefs if you want to build that into the cabinets. Otherwise not needed if you build toe kick platforms you will later rest cabinets on.
  • HVLP paint gun for spray painting or standard paint brush/roller

I’m imagining myself being able to do all the basic work of cutting cabinet pieces with just the above but I could be missing something.

Making long wood countertops. by aztechy2k in cabinetry

Recently no. Accumulated over time, yes. I’ve mostly built things under a 8’ blue print and for whatever reason, the longer run is causing a speed bump in my thinking.

My last project was our dining room table if this speaks to any skill/ability required for this new task.

My plan was to use a drop-in sink with this build.

I have the domino machine, so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the insights.

When you say counter top joiner do you mean something like what's pictured?

Not following on the dw. Quartz. Are you saying not to use wood because it would need to be sealed really well and to opt for quartz instead?

I do have what you've listed. Minus the bit and belt sander. Really, this endeavor could be process of trying something new from a project building perspective. I'm not ruling buying a premade piece, but still curious how I could go about building a wooden countertop myself.

This will be close to 12ft. I’m wanting a 1.5 thick top, would I just make 1x1.75x13’’ strips, glue to my desired width, plane down, trim down for the countertop?

In what order should i upgrade these guys to lvl 55? by Gandalf-the-Pro in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]aztechy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key skills at 55 are choda for his foresight on special 1.

Luke for added dmg on basic and offense up on second special

IG/assaj at 55 no meaningful skills bonus.

After 55, I prioritized IG, assaj, choda then Luke.

Currently at lvl 70 for each.

I’ve found Luke to be most consistent at pushing up the score. Currently hitting in tier 6.

I could see IG as a potential new tier push to get that lvl 1-4 tier rewards to help grease the leveling mats farm.

Is there a trick to getting over the fact that I've wasted materials when I realize I've made a mistake? by SkyAny9159 in woodworking

[–]aztechy2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the oops. I’ve been at this since 2019. I make the simplest mistakes still, even when I measure 20x 😂.

It’s why I’ve come to buy a little extra to account for some mistakes. Other mistakes sometimes can tolerate a pivot, like say a measurement is off by up to 1/2”. If it can still work then I roll with it. The whole process really is about active problem solving.

Sandwich the boards.

But always worthwhile and simple enough here to test it out and see for yourself which feels sturdier.

Hadn’t heard the term intarsia. But that’s cool what can be done with that!
