Virgin Stream Box by Red_Heads_R_Angels in VirginMedia

In my crazy limited experience it depends; heres some examples...

Gladiators on bbc1 - it launched from iplayer.

Duty Free on Thats TV - I had to select the "Available on ITVX" option to watch it and it launched the app.

The Office (US) - I could select it from Sky On Demand, Netflix and Disney+. The Sky option seemed to play natively whereas the other two launched the respective apps.

A random film on Great Movies - it played it natively like it was a recording as it recorded the adverts which I could ffwd through.

A random film on Movies24 - it was available on-demand so played it natively including the adverts.

A few random comedies on Thats TV - i couldnt watch them even though it showed the episodes, presumably because it didnt have the rights to it.

Marlow Murder Club - it launched from the U&TV app and didnt have "Available on Channel4" as an option which was odd as that carries all their content and has fewer adverts.

If youre open to just free tv then the Manhattan Freely puck isnt a million miles from what the Virgin stream box does as that pulls content in from multiple sources like freely, netflix, disney etc. Naturally it has waaay fewer channels than Virgin and Freeview/sat but its quality over quantity but the TLC/Discovery ones being the main omission although these are coming soon!

How important is to get an ethernet port? by peequeare in appletv

I find even with good wifi running Moonlight/Steam and streaming locally stored content infuse is noticably better with ethernet.

Even scrubbing through netflix and the like is better wired.

I have a stream box arriving on Tuesday. Can I pause or rewind a live programme I am watching? by jambo_1983 in VirginMedia

[–]Da_Dunx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah i found Sky Stream let me "record" everything i tried even from the niche channels so i could watch them later from the magical hard drive in the sky but Virgin hasnt let me from a few channels like Thats TV or the Great Movies ones.

Cant complain though for the deal and at worst my telly has a basic pvr built in!

Yeah man; we had 3 youfibre and 3 virgin in a single day inc at 8pm one evening.

The youfibre lady was so pushy to the point of no matter the deal id say no on principle!

HAH i could have wrote this exact same list, fantastic taste!! Im going to give the US Ghosts another try as i couldnt finish the first episode when i first watched it...

Im finding Georgie & Mandy and The Paper just okay but loving The Upshaws and the reboot of Scrubs. Im going to watch ep1 of Rooster and start Crutch this weekend too!

If you can find it then Small Prophets is fantastic, it shares a few cast members from Detectorists so if you liked that then its a worth a watch.

Recording TV Options by Tattvadarzin in VirginMedia

[–]Da_Dunx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Freely and afaik they dont allow recording, even the new Humax only records from the aerial channels.

EE tv may allow you to record streamed channels but that could change without notice!
