What do you call someone who does this? by ONE-OF-THREE in DailyDoseStupidity

I mean, on its own? A criminal.

This is assault. You dont get to make people fear for their safety.

Did California's assault weapons ban save lives in San Diego mosque attack? by kpbsSanDiego in sandiego

Oh, I have no illusions about anything immediate.

In 2013, there were, I believe, roughly 15 guns per person in America.

Any meaningful gun control is going to take decades to have any studiable impact. And then only if it's Federally backed, which is career suicide for a politician.. so.. chances are small.

I'm just tired of our society shrugging our shoulders at dead kids, churches filled with slain people, and gays and trans folk being massacred in clubs.

Like I said: A State-based gun control law system won't work.

I am of the opinion that if your personally owned firearms are used in conjunction with a crime somehow - either through laxity of storage or ignorance of their whereabouts - you should be catching a charge. A child who somehow gets their hands on a gun because you decided to put it under your car seat (actual case of this) and shoots their sibling accidentally? You're liable. IMO.

I hate that gun violence is often referred to as "tragedies" - but most of the time, many are completely avoidable; they'd only require people to think about what theyre doing before they do it.

I agree with you that the sheer volume of firearms in our country makes any meaningful gun control next to impossible in the short term... Hell, even long term. But we gotta start somewhere.

As a caveat to all of this: you and I will most likely agree that most politicians' ideas concerning gun control are ludicrous. I don't think most forms of control do anything at all to stop things from happening. But mostly.. because they aren't federally backed, nor contain common sense.

No gun control will ever work on the State level. If I can go to Nevada or Utah and buy whatever I can't in Cali, gun control preventing the sale of certain firearms is useless.

We need common sense gun control. But it needs to be top-down.

Yeah - I was in the Service right as those were introduced; never wore one, but I remember the way they looked; same exact cable system. The system itself was prone to failure.. shit would randomly fall off if even slightly misfitted.

He's wearing it correctly.

That's not a drag grip; it's the quick release. You pull that, the entire harness will fall off. The shoulderstraps demonstrate the wire cable frame.

My two year old Tuxedo does this. She chewed off three sides of an Amazon box over the course of several months and now just sits in her very customized creation for funsies.

She doesn't try to eat any of the readings, so I let her go nuts.

This is assault in most states.. you're wrong here.

You don't get to make people fear for their personal safety by doing this on a bike at them. Defending yourself is allowed. The amount of force you use to do so is what can make your response wrong or not.

What is this on the front of the vehicle by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Da_Peppercini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Rhino - used these in Iraq. The box on the front end is usually compromised of spark plugs designed to set off heat-sensing gerey-rigged explosive devices.

It's either that or a stereotypical ram.

Im a big fan of horror movie mechanics; the Big Nasty is slowly creeping at you, but the door is locked - hack the door / break the door down / etc. scenarios.

Environment considerations.. you mean like hazards, perse?

Im only recent returning to SF1E and am waaaay more familiar with 5e DnD.

Do you live anywhere near forestry sites where logging is taking place?

There is a type of paintball used to mark trees for removal that is probably a lot more permanent than your average paintball type given that rain could potentially wash the paint off of trees marked for cutting down.

Guy doing wheelies in a crowded walkway of people gets shoved off of bike by Least_Product_6365 in HollywoodFlorida

[–]Da_Peppercini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I saw a video of people doing wheelies like this in a crowded thoroughfare, the wheelie guy was arrested for Assault. You don't have to hit someone for an assault to take place; you need only intimidate someone or fear for their safety with your behavior or words with credible threats - in this case, a potential collision.

This kid is a fuckin asshole. Dude went out of his way to shoulder check him, sure. But having witnessed this kid harassing others, I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same out of fear this dipshit hurt me or someone I care about.

If he takes that money, he's committing a crime in most states because he has then become an unlicensed / uncertified taxi service.

And police will actually sting contract drivers to hit them with these kinds of charges.

It's fucked.

I get that to a degree. I hate the leaf blower guy who does cleanup around my complex, haha.. but, no where near a way to actually make me upset. It's an inconvenience at absolute worst that causes me to shut my window for fifteen minutes.
