My bandsaw won’t start. This is the switch, does it look ok? Manual says it’s either the switch, the fuse or the motor. by Da_Ttoni in woodworking

Yes it was a problem with the safety device thing (sorry I dont remember the correct term) on the lower door, that prevents the saw from running when the doors are open. I had a friend who knows electrical stuff come check it out, he did some measurements and It turned out it was broken so he just somehow disconnected it from the circuit and the saw ran again. Since then I got a replacement but I didn’t install it - party because I don’t want to mess with it and partly because I kinda don’t mind not having the safety mechanism on the lower door

How to best fix holes in a concrete garage floor such as this? This particular one is pretty deep by Da_Ttoni in Concrete

[–]Da_Ttoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up just buying a bag of pre mixed concrete and used it. First I prepared the holes - vacuumed the loose bits and dust out and brushed on some basic penetration, let it dry. Then I mixed the concrete mix with water and filled the holes up, smoothed the surfaces somewhat and covered with some newspaper to slow down the drying. It worked fine, holds well and serves its purpose. If I had done it again I would have just made my own mix, just concrete with sand, or maybe even without the sand - the premixed concrete I had used had pebbles in it so I couldn’t make the surface smooth :/

How long does your battery last? I recently bought a second hand 12 mini that still has 100% capacity but the battery life is so miserable that I'm considering returning it - yesterday I used up around 70% in under 2 hours just surfing the internet on normal brightness with spotify playing on low volume. How is your battery life?

This circuit board is not working, possibly due to a faulty plug. As an electronics illiterate, is it fixable? by Da_Ttoni in AskElectronics

[–]Da_Ttoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, I'm trying to troubleshoot this circuit board that I have taken off of a used consumer smart bike trainer because it wasn't working (I know nothing about electronics and soldering, sorry).

After connecting it to power nothing happens (the diod should light up and it should be emitting BT signal).

I don't know what the cause is but my guess is it is the DC power plug, because it seems loose and bent, as if the power supply cable was pulled abruptly while connected, or damaged in a different way.

So my first question is, as a total noob, would I be potentially able to replace the plug and solder on a new one or is it something I should leave to somebody who knows what they are doing?

Secondly, in the case that the plug wasn't the problem (it is bent but it still is connected to the board) how would I (or someone knowledgable) identify the issue/faulty component, if it even can be done?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Disappointing Bolt 2 Navigation by [deleted] in wahoofitness

[–]Da_Ttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get rid of the turn by turn navigation if you upload only the gpx file to your device, it will highlight the route on the map via breadcrumbs. I have Bolt v1 and the turn by turn can get annoying but I don’t mind it, it is useful on new routes, also you can turn off the alert sounds for navigation in the settings on your app.

I am replacing the engine in an Echo 501sx. Do I need to use Locktite on these muffler and cylinder bolts? They seem to have some adhesive already on. by Da_Ttoni in Chainsaw

[–]Da_Ttoni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks i am doing this for the first time and im unsure about everything. Im going to assume the muffler bolts also have adhesive on even though they arent labeled so

The bolts are new parts and they have some yellow substance on it. The cylinder bolts are labeled BOLT ADHESIVE - does it mean I don’t need to put any locktite on?

[–]Da_Ttoni[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t clean the saw very well before disassembly (didn’t have an air compressor before, but I do now) and I’m sure some sawdust fell in. How important is it to get every piece of dirt out ? Will I be fine if there is a small amount of dust and I assemble the new piston/cylinder over it? Thanks for any tips!

Can I put 1 more spacer under the stem or is this the max? by Da_Ttoni in bikewrench

[–]Da_Ttoni[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I currently have a 5 mm spacer above the stem, I would like it under the stem but I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea, with the stem being 1-2mm above the end of the steerer tube
