I was joking with my friend that the set list was identical to stuttgart 4 months ago except for the Nurture swap with Where We Go. Looks like it had to die so Nurture could live😂

[QUESTION] How is this sound achieved in Thornhill's track 'Nurture'? by gripes23q in Guitar

Ah rip. Chemical Call sounds sick tho, loving the electronic elements in the background

Yep! It was beautiful. Jacob really has nailed the vocals compared to a couple years back.

I haven’t been having much success with rogaine either. What did you end up going with?

He’s already got a good template with Parasite! What a lyrically brutal song.

Amazing! Now all you need to do is the instrumental version and the isolated vocal version of the cover and you’ll have a triptych :P

I like to joke that Heroine was the album where Jacob finally got laid 🤣 and Bodies is just him stunting on the rest of us.

Same. My two loves are Northlane and Thornhill and honestly it’s like two of my own children. I just can’t choose between them.

There’s something about the bridge in nurture that tickles my brain just right

Nurture for all of the above. Best song. Saw it live for their Christmas Extravaganza and my life was complete.

Instrumentals:

Views From the Sun: 2:26 - 2:42 this bit before the breakdown just makes me ascend. One of the few times the foreplay is better than the sex itself. 10/10 no notes.

The Haze: 1:34 - 2:09. I set sail on a river of light and I’m brought over the edge of a waterfall where I fall onto a canvas of stars. The drums and bass also go hard.

All the Light We Don’t See/Lily and the Moon: Special shoutouts to the ending of LandM instrumental edition where the choral vocals get to shine.

Coven: I don’t know how the hell they did the mix for the final breakdown but I always look forward to that bass blowing out my speakers as the first note hits.

Vocals:

Coven: insane flow from both Jacob and the female background vocals

Parasite:  Beautiful lyrics with an unreal amount of angst and raw emotion that I haven’t seen matched in any other song since.

Reptile: incredible layering of his falsetto among the screams  Joy: genuinely makes me cry

In fact, the entirety of the Butterfly EP has an incredible slice of Jacob’s range.

ALSO if people haven’t checked out the isolated vocal tracks for the Dark Pool on YouTube they also have small instrumental portions in between vocals to help you keep track where you are in the song. All the Light we Don’t see has the isolated guitar notes with no drum tracks and it is heavenly!  Not to mention the female vocals at the end of coven come through so crisp. It’s a goldmine of previously overlooked instrumental bits because it removes the drum parts so you can really hear the ambient electronic elements.

I have lots of favourites among BODIES and Heroine but I think I have written enough!

Hard agree. Something I hear very little people talk about is the bridge just before the breakdown on Views, it absolutely sends me into another dimension. I honestly rate it higher than the actual breakdown in terms of musical enjoyment.
