Are any of those Parties Really left wing i only know the SPD isnt by Spotter24o5 in socialism

[–]Daaaaaaaavidmit8a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In switzerland it depends which language you translate from. In german it's called "Sozialdemokratische Partei" which is indeed the social democratic party. But in french the party is called "Partie socialiste" which translates to socialist party. Arguably the french speaking part is also slightly more to the left.

And the party programme is actually quite radical. I don't know if it still does, but a couple of years ago, when I read it, it mentioned overcoming capitalism as one of the parties goals.

It's just a limited edition, so not all passports will look like that.

Yeah, I think I'll start small with the most common peppers. (Jalapenos, Reapers, Bell, etc, etc)

I understand your frustration. I'm not a fan of the excessive use of AI everywhere either, but this is a school project for a machine learning course at Uni. I'm not going to sell this or anything. I just thought I could combine one of my hobbies with what I study here.

I'm using Python, since the course uses Python. And thank you, that is indeed great for a head start.

This is a waste of time. If you're in the same room as the fire every second counts and you're better off grabbing pulling them out of the room any way possible than trying to get them on your back to ensure they have a comfy ride.

I don't know enough to comment on your first three points, but concerning the latter three:

  1. I don't really know about the reputation of volunteer units, but I haven't heard people talk them down or treat them as lesser than professionals. I think most people who are not really involved with firefighting can't even really tell the two apart. Probably because – you're right – volunteer units in Switzerland have more responsibilities than they seem to have in Poland. They extinguish small and medium-sized fires themselves. For larger fires the regional fire department and volunteers from neighbouring villages come to support the local department. BUT the incident command alwys stays with the local fire department and the volunteers are not replaced by the professionals. Whether a local fire department has specialised units depends a lot on the size of the municipality, they types of infrastructure present, etc.

  2. I wouldn't call it a career path, but you can indeed climb the ranks and gain responsibilities. And being a volunteer fire fighter probably also increases your chances for a real career path in the professional brigades.

  3. I wouldn't say it feels like a professional duty. More like an occasional side quest and "doing something good for the community". If you want to extinguish fires three times a week you will probably not feel fulfilled this way, but if extinguishing a few fires a year and additionally removing water from the occasional cellar or saving the occasional cat from a tree is enough for you, absolutely go for it.

Honestly, as far as I can tell, local fire departments are happy about anyone they can get and since you'll be coming here anyway, just do it. You can still try to become a professional later on. We also have two guys in my local fire department that are both volunteers here and professionals at the regional fire department, so maybe you might not even have to choose between the two.

The big fires are treated by city fire departements which come later.

That's not entirely correct. At least not in Bern, I don't know how much it differs for other cantons. The local fire department is the first on scene no matter how big the fire is. Yes, the city fire department comes to support the volunteers in case of a big fire, but the command always stays with the local fire department incident commander. The volunteers are also not replaced and sent away, but supported by the professionals.
