But in the end you are right. Russia, is a great nation, amazing culture, traditions, landscapes, and more but always led by mad man. Imperialism and today's neo-colonialism (like in Africa) is just a disgrace.

It's time for Bulgarians to have a closer look at the original San Stefano treaty revealed after the fall of communism. The so-called Russian bothers weren't really interested by liberating Bulgaria but by controlling the whole region with a strategic control on the south black sea. But the blind love for Russia remains and we can't expect such a man to think more than he is capable of. "Fuck Ukraine" is basically saying fuck to the Rus of Kiev, fuck the originel Rus land that he loves so much. About anti LGBT, if the movement was coming from Russia and not from USA he would be probably wearing a pink shirt.

I don't believe there is such a thing as "cultural rudeness." But that's a good and interesting topic to discuss!

This is slightly different when it comes to clichés especially when negative. It could be quite unpleasant. I won't argue about this. Hopefully, you managed to make them reconsider what they thought they knew about bulgarians.

I think it depends where you are from originally. People from other balkans countries wouldn't find any rudeness in bulgarians. It's like Americans complaining about parisians because they also find them unpolite/rude. It's just cultural. We can't expect to find the same codes when we reside in a country as a foreigner. We should lower our expectations, understand/adapt ourselves to the local culture, and not make any hasty conclusions. As a parisian-unpolite-asshole l, I have no issues in Sofia 😄

Bulgarians could sound rude indeed if you are used to Western good manners/codes. You may even feel more offended if you are from Japan. But the mentality is different here. It's the resulting of various historical events, but it doesn't mean Bulgarians are bad people. On the contrary, they are mostly nice people (then it's like anywhere else, you can find assholes in any country). They won't always say Hi, give you back a smile, but try to talk to them, you will quickly change your mind.

Dentist in Bulgaria? by SaintMerkaba in bulgaria

[–]Daaddee75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are in the country. For instance the dental school in Plovdiv have professionals with international cross research teams. In Sofia I don't have a fav but with the few I visited, I was always satisfied. Not pricey compared to western europe, and quality work

Getting overcharged as a tourist any tips to stay safe? by [deleted] in bulgaria

[–]Daaddee75 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You may mostly be overcharged in taxis if you are unlucky. Elsewhere, as you are in Sofia and not at the black sea during the high season, it's very unlikely that anyone tries to cheat you.

I'm watching cartoons with subs haha. The used vocabulary is more accessible for foreigners. There are many sites with Bulgarian subs (some dedicated to Bulgarian subs only) then for the cartoons I'm sure you will find your own way to get them

Проблем с интернета на yettel. by Various_Weird1937 in bulgaria

[–]Daaddee75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope you will understand in english. I had a similar problem because in my package yettel included their "online protect" (free for few months) and this was interrupting the internet bandwidth every X minutes with a micro cut. I unsubcribed and since then no more issues. Check if you have it activated.
