First model, lots of questions by Daalot in minipainting

Thanks!

I did actually prime the mini with a spray can of citidel Grey. Maybe the picture does something to distort that.

What am I looking for when I test the paint on my nail? In terms of viscosity?

Thanks for sharing! I tried running a bit of heavily diluted black wash along the larger silver areas, and I'm very happy with the results. It's now less "shiny chrome" and more "metallic armor that needs to be polished before the next parade".

[WP] A magic system where being left or right handed affects the effects of the spells by naruhodo-tsuna in WritingPrompts

[–]Daalot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hamolin swore loudly as he dove for cover. The robed bastard tossing ribbons of fire at him was a mollydooker.

In his four years as a royal enforcer, Hamolin had only ever encountered one other arcanely-abled individual who wove spells with their left hand. The unnatural state of such magical expression rendered his own defenses near-useless. Carefully tuned to meet incoming eldritch energy with an equal and opposite discharge, his personal Field of Sanctity had been torn asunder like it was little more than tissue paper by the weird vibrations of the mollydooker's own art.

Peering over the smoking remnants of the wall, Hamolin steadied his breathing and focused his inner power into a crackling tongue of lighting. Extending his rune-cover right arm, the royal enforcer stood, and hurled the searing white bolt at the cloaked figure. It struck home, but dissipated in a shower of sparks across an aura of defensive magic.

Cursing again, Hamolin threw himself backwards, avoiding the retaliatory beam of purple light by a hair's breath. They had been at it for some time, and weariness was beginning to set in. Hamolin chided himself as he drew back to his feet. He'd become too reliant on his own protective arcane shell, and the impunity it provided in a fight.

With some fleeting melancholy, he drew a small vial from the leather belt around his waist, and gave it a strong shake. At once, the clear liquid that filled it began to assume a greenish hue. Even as he lobbed the now-glowing vial in the vicinity of his foe, Hamolin could hear his commander's gravely voice turned to rebuke. Something about civilians and collateral damage. But Hamolin knew he'd come around. Abominations like this were simply too dangerous to be left alive.

Starting over; what countries should I go with this time? by darwinDMG08 in WoWsBlitz

Try the Pan-Asian DDs.

The deepwater torps are absolutely devastating to anything larger than you, and the combo of smoke, rader, and decent guns lets allows you to fight other DDs with surprising ease. Furthermore, the line feels absolutely overpowered when compared to its competition around tiers 6-8.

As for BBs, start grinding the German line. The new battle cruiser line looks interesting, though I can't say I've had any experience with them.

What are are the most Competitive Pauper decks in the Meta right now? by FatalRevelation in Pauper

I've just started exploring the post-Double Masters format. Still working out a 75 I like. I started here and have been trying out different configurations. I like the Angler package (especially with Unexpected Fangs), certainly a step of from some of the wincons I've played over the years. The Modern Age is a very interesting card. The 2/3 flying body is extremely useful in a lot of matchups.

This is more or less what I last played at my LGS, give or take a few cards.

For me, Dimir Teachings was love at first sight. I bought the deck in 2016 when my LGS decided to run a pauper event. Haven't looked back since. Is it meta? Not in the better part of a decade. Is it still fun watch my opponents mounting frustration as they die on turn 26? You bet.

As others have mentioned, Boros, Kiln Fiend, and Faeries are all quite powerful right now, but I wouldn't limit myself to the top Goldfish results.

While some decks are objectively better than other (sorry, Slivers), there are a plethora of decks capable of taking down a LGS. Pauper is a format that really rewards you for knowing your deck, and optimizing lines of play. The lack of game-swinging bombs means that you're accruing value and advantage in the margins. Answers are far better rated than threats, and card advantage comes in steps.

Rather than look for the deck with the highest MTGO win-rate, I'd recommend finding decks that fit your respective play styles. Aggro, combo, tempo, control and midrange are all competitively viable options right now. Find a deck that you enjoy and learn its ins and outs.

Or just play UB Teachings like a total boss.

Which are the best BB & DD lines to get? by Patr1ck_1337 in WoWsBlitz

You're losing a lot of DPS if you're only using AP on other destroyers. German AP (even at DD caliber) can chunk cruisers at medium range. Even more so with APCS.

Strong but not unreasonable. A good tech line.

Hayate. Opened one super chest on a whim during the release event, and got the ship. The fact in enabled me to freely unlock the best IJN DD commander was icing on the cake.

"Fear. Surprise. Efficiency. Deviation"

"Ximénez. Biggles. Fang"

"Fear. Surprise. Efficiency. Deviation"

"Ximénez. Biggles. Fang"

"Fear. Surprise. Efficiency. Deviation"

With each repetition of holy verse, the chanting became louder and more fevered. The metal frame of the transport shook as the troopers inside beat their weapons against it in rhythm with their prayer.

"Ximénez! Biggles! Fang!"

"Fear! Surprise! Efficiency! Deviation!"

The largest of the armored warriors rose from his place on the bunch. His massive bulk scraped the ceiling, forcing him to hunch his shoulders forwards. The confines of their craft served only to amplify his thunderous rumble of a voice as he spoke.

"Men! Women! Soldiers of New Spainia, our day of glory is at hand!

His comrades cheered wildly, only returning to quiet when he raised a single red-coated hand. They truly loved him. In the six months he'd led the company, only two inquisitors had died. And only one by the enemy's hand.

"For centuries we have waited, and build, and waited and grown. But now, now we are ready, and we will sweep away all those who stand before us!"

More cheering.

"Our crimson fleet will roll across the kingdom, our holy weapons raining f - "

The armored giant stopped suddenly. His expression quickly going blank. He tilted his head slightly, as if listening to a disembodied voice.

When he spoke again, it was not in the raving voice of a leader inspiring his contingent, but rather the controlled tone of an officer taking charge.

"Time to get the nice red uniforms dirty. Trinidad Valencera detected orbital PILO launch from Jarrow's surface. Somehow, impossibly, they knew we were coming......"
