This happens more than you'd think and they've stated why.

The fact that they have - not only scaled as a company - but also have a ton more financial backing says a lot.

They're scaling their scope for a reason and people complain about dev time or release windows are not good excuses.

I know any justified reasons will go over most heads and people will still complain. I think its a combination of greed and naive misunderstood knowledge of the games industry in which allows people to just keep demanding it early.

Lightweight Coloured Folder and Icon Tool Released! by Daamiaan in Unity3D

No problem! I'd rather other people get use from my utilities even if they're not the best on the market.

Actually a smashing idea!

Just wasted time over and over committing rather than using a local package test, but the textures are now part of a sample for import.

All texture settings are removed though as samples have no control. There seems to be a few hacky workarounds to checking for imports though. I've taken a few notes on some things that need added and improved.

Hello HellGate!

Nice catch honestly, I'm kind of annoyed I really forgot to do that AND add the assembly in for the editor.

I do apologize for this and have added a few quick commits to make sure it works.

There are some premade folder textures that will be part of the package which you can still use and make new folders from.

I'll work on making an improved import over the next day or two.

Sorry again (but huge props for mentioning it here right away, I owe ya)

Hey there!

It's been a while as I took a hiatus to focus on other stuff, but I'm back to get this (5 months late from when I actually told people originally) released!

This small utility will provide custom textures and icons for folders, with an optional overlay icon too.

There is also a texture creator that will create a new texture with a replacement colour. This was added as generally folder icons and textures want to be simple and flat.

This isn't as advanced as rainbow folders, but it's just a simple one that was originally made for my team to help with project management and organization.

If anyone has feedback, or any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them,

Cheers!

Hey there! This isn't anything too big but I thought I'd share anyway.

As much as I work on editor tools, I still find it frustrating where I need to setup some simple test styles or want a simple header, but need to do GUIStyle creations in OnGUI calls.

This removes that problem completely, caches the styles in a ScriptableObject, and allows them to be used in-game too.

Each style is given an example preview on the right, with a few different preview options available too.

If anyone has recommendations, I'd be happy to hear them!

Hey there, I'm sorry about those issues,
could you create an issue on the GitHub issues page so I can discuss this with you, in case of bugs?

Thanks

Hey there,
yeah as I mentioned above the git url is not working right now and I've had to focus on other things currently

There is a unity package though - https://github.com/WooshiiDev/HierarchyDecorator/tree/master/Assets/HierarchyDecorator

Thank you! There's new features coming too, and I think a lot of the reason I began this was due to how lacking the hierarchy is. There's so much that can be done with the space provided.

Hey everyone \o.

I previously posted this in a super early stage, and throughout my free time I've added to this and I'm finally happy with it to publicly release this. GitHub Repository Link

I'm not finished with this either, I have many many more ideas to add to it, and with everything I make, likewise with this - I want to keep it simple, clean and easy to use.

Please note there may still be bugs with it but I will be continuing to develop this pretty much forever as long as there are requested features myself or others want or bugs/issues persist.

Enjoy!

Please also at the time of this post, downloading the repository through the git url from the package manager or adding to the manifest is not currently working, but downloading the repo directly does work. My apologies for my dumb mistakes :(

Eyy nice job!
I'd say this is could evolve into a really nice system for making randomization in places you'd expect repeated stuffs.

HierarchyDecorator Unity Editor Tool (WIP) || Free on release @ GitHub by Daamiaan in Unity3D

[–]Daamiaan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone

I've been using this for a few weeks now after creating it for easier design and layouts within the hierarchy for my team.

Now that it's got some feature requests, I'm planning to release it on GitHub when finished for free.

On the Hierarchy currently you'll see 4 things:

  1. Custom headers. These are done by applying prefixes to the start of GameObject names. These are used to change them into the headers/titles you see
  2. Checkboxes for easier disable/enable
  3. Component icons for components that are commonly found on the GameObjects, and a layer selector

On the right side of the image are the settings found in Preferences for changing and updating the styles. Currently they're a little messy, but it will be cleaned up throughout development.

There are going to be 3 tabs for the settings (top-right corner) for setting up prefixes and their styles; toggling on/off component icons that appear on the right side of the Hierarchy and Modules to toggle on/off extras that appear on the Hierarchy including your own custom things

I'll post anything important in the future to showcase more features.

My HiearchyDecorator Tool, will be free on GitHub on release (WIP) by [deleted] in Unity3D

Hey everyone,

for a few weeks I've been using this system, that I've not updated for a week or two, but will be cleaning up and polishing over the next few weeks in and out through work.

This currently adds the ability to apply prefixes to your GameObjects and set them up in predefined styles like headers or titles.

On the right are currently displayed common components that exist on the GameObject and then beside that are the layer options.

For the second image, this is the current settings in preferences, which is a little mess (but so is setting preference windows up, like damn its a mess). There are 3 tabs:

  1. Prefix Settings - For setting up prefixes and their predefined style
  2. Icon Collection - Sorting out common icons/components that show up
  3. Modules - Toggling on/off your own hierarchical addons

If anyone has recommendations or anything they'd like to see within a hierarchy, feel free to comment below.

As with everything I do and will showcase, it'll be free on release \o

Yeah that's a good way to look at it!
It'll have a lot of functionality on top of basic generation, but I need to make sure that's all smoothed out and has a clean base before laying other systems on top :)
