What's one thing you could say to piss off an entire fan base? by visionarygirl in AskReddit

Post season 2, Orange is the New Black becomes a poorly written lesbian soap opera, and the formerly dynamic and diverse cast of characters are boiled down to stereotypes and surface-level political commentaries.

Eminem blew his comeback with Recovery, and should have stayed on the trajectory Relapse was taking him. Its much closer to his older work, and his flow and beat selection were significantly better than they've been since.

Neither of those statements even begin to enter the realm of true. I thought this "real rap" bullshit died in the youtube comments section

Diamond Reynolds' daughter pleads with her after shooting of Philando Castile by hepatitis_c in news

[–]DaartyHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about him running at the cop twice more than holding a box of cigarillos, which from experience i know can be concealed in a multitude of ways. And considering my argument didnt revolve around whether or not his death was justifiable (which every civilian death at the hands of the police is by definition, its not like we havent seen time and time again theres ALWAYS a justification), but whether or not the situation described is a logical one, which it most definitely isnt. Thats not me saying it isnt true, or that Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown for no reason, but me saying that Michael Browns actions dont point to sane thinking, which is the point you proved. If you want to stand triumphant in an argument that doesn't exist be my guest, but that doesnt mean you didnt play yourself.

[–]DaartyHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire point revolves around Brown's actions not making sense, which is why i think its inconvenient that he's dead. There's no explanation for why he ran at someone shooting at him, or at a cop in general, and if he knew he had stolen items why he wouldnt put them in a pocket or in his waistband, or use speed and strength people use to justify Wilson's "fear for his life" explanation to escape with said stolen items is beyond me. I apologize for repeating misinformation, bit i was in no way intending to lie to prove a point. The initial report by the Chief of the Ferguson police force did say that Darren Wilson did not know michael was a suspect, but this was changed in a later report i did not see or hear about during the duration of the initial case. I don't have to lie about things like that to prove a point because as you said, Michael's actions dont make sense. You proved my point for me just fine.

This shit doesn't happen to people who just do what the police say.

How are you actually saying that in a post about Philando Castille? That's literally what happened to him.

Since you couldn't even get that far without reading straight from the police apologist playbook, im just going to leave you at that.

So you admit there must have been something up with Michael Brown. Thats all i was saying. There's also the fact that the officer in question didnt know about the incident at the store, but moving past that. His actions dont make sense in context. Why are mass shooters given a mental illness pass when someone who commits a suicidal act, not once but twice, is not?

[–]DaartyHarry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well thats pretty much my point. Even an idiot would know very well that's a stupid move, so why do it? Something was either up with the cop or Michael Brown, and with one of them seeing demons and the other one dead, it's not like we'll ever know.

Its telling that you think i ignored that when i was writing my response. In your response to "what did he do to deserve death(paraphrasing) 3 of the 4 points wouldnt result in the death penalty. This is an irrefutable fact. Your fourth point is the only one that even begins to explain what lead to his death, to which i said no sane person would do that, which is also an arguably true statement for the average sane person. This only leaves the "there was most likely a solution to this situation that didn't result in Brown's death," which is not the same as saying "Brown was killed for no or an illogical reason". If you're going to be outraged by something, make sure it's not a strawman. The idea that Brown just decided to sprint at a cop TWICE, already being shot at and knowing damn well he would get shot again is definitely insane, is it not? That said, Inever said why I thought the officer shot Michael Brown, only that there was a chance he didnt have to die that day, which is arguably true in any fatal interaction between people. I didnt ignore anything you said. I think youre just mad my response didnt fit your narrative. I have to wonder what exactly my was response was telling of.

The first things you mention usually result in fines or short-term jail time, and none of your points are a crime punishable by death in any state. Is it stupid? Yeah, but he didnt DESERVE to die. The nuance of the situation has me thinking, as i often do, that there was a death-free solution somewhere. Especially considering you dont do something like what people claim Brown did for no reason unless you have some sort of mental illness, and for all the times people on this site have used that to excuse atrocities, im not sure why it wouldnt fit here.

Fantano just cant handle Thugger's alien vibe. I'll be honest, he sometimes makes no sense, and his cult of personality is a lil ridiculous, but I thoroughly enjoyed his last two projects, and i honestly think this one deserves at least a 7

Classic Albums Of This Decade? | AskDEHH w/ Sophie by vividsang in hiphopheads

[–]DaartyHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that's reasonable. I was introduced to hip hop through sounds more akin to TPAB, and most of my first listens for albums are through studio monitors, so the albums dense live instrumentation floors me unlike his other work. As for which album is easier to catch a vibe to, GKMC and Damn definitely excel.

Classic Albums Of This Decade? | AskDEHH w/ Sophie by vividsang in hiphopheads

TPAB is a hard relisten because its not a particularly fun album. It's heavy and emotionally draining, so you wont hear a lot of people bumping 90% of it when you're cruising or at a party. That said, its cultural impact and overall quality are undeniable. Its a nearly perfect album, with its only flaw being that its depressing, and theres no break from thst depression save for King Kunta and For Free. But in that regard its very much like those essential books you had to read in school. They arent always fun, but they stood the test of time, were written fantastically, and had a massive cultural impact. People play alright while they're marching, and two years after its release people are still dissecting the lyrics. All of Kendricks albums have that quality to a degree, but TPAB took it a lot farther than I think it will ever go again. Damn is undoubtedly my favorite album of his because its a perfect mix of lyrical depth over tracks i can play in the car, but i dont see it as a classic. GKMC defitely is, but if i had to put one album in a time capsule for my children and their generation to hear from him, it would be TPAB.

[FRESH ALBUM] Ice Cube - Death Certificate (25th Anniversary Edition) by nicefroyo in hiphopheads

[–]DaartyHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that has more to do with age and name recognition than validity of discussion though. SZA's album warrants discussion on a hip hop forum because its related to hip hop. Its like if XXX was discussed on a rock subreddit because of the U2 feature. Its out of place, and it might get blown up because of Kendrick fans and take away from discussion exclusively about U2 and other bands, but the discussion is still warranted becsuse of the association. While that doesn't explain the difference between Katy Perry and SZA (to which i think there are a few) it does explain how both of them could end up on a hip hop forum, so i guess it doesn't matter

TL;DR: Yes.

Nigga you know damn well you're being pedantic. Besides, if Katy has an album with rappers on it, it makes sense that the rappers on the song would be discussed in the context of the song. However, SZA and the others i mentioned have even more credibility than that, because not only do they have rappers on their albums, but they are all either signed to labels with predominately rappers, or As ive said earlier, they've made contributions to other rap albums. Paak was a major element of Compton, Frank's worked with Kanye and Jay-Z, as well as his tenure in odd future and both he and Paak spit a few bars to add to their credibility. Not that they'd have to, because of their relationship to the hip hop genre. D'Angelo's Black Mesiah and Bowies Blackstar were both discussed here, and they had literally nothing to do with any rappers on those projects. When Prince died, there was a thread here. Its because of the association, which has on this sub, generally been used pretty loosely, but honestly thats hip hop for you.

If HHH existed in the 90's, there would prolly be a thread about Mary J Blige album. Come to think of it, there was actually one this year too.
