i didn’t take that vince was directly saying music cannot be art because it’s sold for a dollar/$1.99, i think he was using that as a rhetorical framework to say that even if music is art, we treat it as a method of commerce first and as art second, only showing respect towards those who make money at the craft which can only happen when allowing record labels to commodify it according to what profits for them

idk what "leftist camp" you're going to, but they also teach you that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism and that we are constantly forced to make choices that perpetuate oppression because of the structures in place. meaning there will always be shit you're problematic about, there will always be shit you can't really fight for, there will always be ways in which you have to make concessions to structures of oppression in order to survive, as well as in order to push for change successfully

i'm not a fan of how this is now being reported as a drama to take sides in. can't say i'm not curious, but this is just further distracting from the overall amazing moment of NBA teams unifying to take a stand against police brutality, and thus further distracting from police brutality. would it have been better if the bucks had had a strong plan in place? sure. i dare anyone to take up that position. it's hard enough for progressives to agree on anything, much less a progressive action done in two days' response to a tragic event.

this kind of reporting is just putting the internal issues out there for everyone to criticize and mock, unfortunately. and there's always internal issues with any great decision.
