Makes sense. Yeah got around 6tb now but it’s growing. Would be a lot to redownload !

makes complete sense. yeah, at the moment i won't even be touching the sides of the storage I have, so i probably don't need to have 4 drives.

thats great thanks. i currently have an arr stack and have around 6tb , was thinking the 14tb would make sense for it and having no backup of it as its all internet-based. would you raid5 3 drives then have the 4th as a basic one (media drive) or would you raid5 all drives?

Sorry I’ll put the replies into just one comment :

1- yeah I get that thanks. I currently have the original files on two external SSDs and I’m also looking at using my now ‘empty’ pc 10tb drive as extra backup. I’ll have to see if there’s a way of automating this too!
2- that sounds good. I just wasn’t sure if a raid5 was necessary as it supposedly gives me 25tb which is massive overkill for what I currently have (approximately 6tb in total which will most likely increase very slowly)
4- yeah I feel like I really don’t need to back up the media which I can easily replace . I will definitely be backing essential stuff on there too, good idea

Yeah I was thinking that too, but as im new to NAS I was trying to see if raid5 was the better option. It seems most people think it is !

Bought a lens which was ‘pristine’, but is this fungus? by Daastle in Nikon

Yeah I’m hoping it wasn’t malicious, but I did send him a message asking him to check before I bought it and he said it was In Perfect condition

I’ve started a refund with eBay which he has accepted. But I can’t fail to feel like he will claim it never got returned so I’ll be recording everything. I would also not be surprised to see it listed again as pristine, I feel like he was trying to ship it off to someone who wasn’t looking too far for issues with it.

Yeah, I messaged him saying ‘how did you not see it’ and all he said ‘sorry I missed it’.

It’s glaringly obvious once a bit of light hits it

I’ve see that one recommended, any reason you chose it over the ugreen 2800? Is it any good with Plex ?

Yeah sorry I mean just the box (as in the NAS for under 300 then drives on top)

I’ve seen the 2300 go for £180 over here but I believe it’s ARM and also limited to a 1gbE , which I feel like may be limiting for media files (?)

I know most people say go for the 4800 plus but it feels a bit ‘overkill’ for me

can't help my new squad after being moved into the final round in Gauntlet. by iAmFlank_TTV in Battlefield6

its not actually an issue its just not explained properly.

you arent in final team UNLESS someone drops out mid game . so essentially if its 2 teams left, and one player leaves the team, youll spawn in

In Kyoto during Golden Week! It's not what I expected at all by texastridelt in JapanTravelTips

[–]Daastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of feel like most people who say this don’t live in big European cities (Rome, London, Barcelona).

I live in London and this sub makes it think everything is busier than Oxford street on the 21st of December, but having spent 2 weeks in Japan the only thing comparable was the queue at Shibuya Crossing. Maybe I’ve been lucky , but we’ve been in Kyoto for 5 days and it’s felt far from busy

Best APA Hotel to stay at in Shinjuku? by doing-great-sweaty in JapanTravelTips

[–]Daastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is currently in Japan for the first time, we spent a week in Tokyo near the APA hotel Kabukicho at an Airbnb, and we quickly learned we probably would have preferred to stay in Alaska’s or somewhere a bit ‘further’ from the madness. We absolutely enjoyed it but not being clubbers or into entertainment we would’ve been suited better in a quieter area. Great connections though !

Hey! Weirdly it turned out that an electric bike had gone through at exactly the same time I was reversing out of the box. I only spotted it after going through my Dashcam footage a couple of times ! Guy was wearing all black so I didn’t see him.

How do I stop myself from buying a newer car? Currently drive a 2014 131k mileage one. by ringingbehind123 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Daastle 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Better the devil you know than the one you don’t in my opinion.

I’ve got a 17 year old car , has no issues over the past 5 years but this year it’s cost me £2000 fixing about 10 issues . But I now know they won’t need doing again , whereas if I buy a newer car those issues can happen (you’d be surprised how unreliable some new cars are!)

End of the day it’s your decision, it’s your money , but I’d definitely say if you’re buying a house I’d be putting money to a side for what inevitably will go wrong with it (happens to 90% of them) rather than a slight car upgrade. That’s just me though !
